Interested in a reason as well, my base assumption is that it's an Ubisoft product and by default I'd only get maybe a few hours of enjoyment out of it. (due to often rather shallow game mechanics)

Jesus christ, no wonder ten tons of strategy guides existed back in the day. You were literally fucked if you didn't have one, you have about a one in a million chance of figuring out what you're supposed to be doing in this without an external source telling you straight to your face.
