Sorry, but no. I got a free ticket from a friend. Convoluted reason I won't go into. The alarm bells started when I saw how deathly empty the cinema was. This was a Saturday, middle of the day in the busiest cinema in the town centre. There was just no interest in it. The film started with no adverts, not even local businesses were advertised like usual. And then the film itself. Now, I went in with low expectations. But I couldn't believe I hadn't set them low enough. Every single joke fell flat except Chris Hemsworth. The ghostbusters had absolutely no chemistry. The effects were serviceable for about ten years ago, and the final fight was literally like watching children playing at ghostbusters but their cool dad added some special effects. In fact, if this whole film had been a gift to four children playing pretend as ghostbusters it would have made a great deal more sense. But its not. Its four talented women being totally wasted by a poor script. Fieg really screwed up.

I went into it expecting to be entertained. I don't watch a lot of movies, my girlfriend wanted to see it, so I went. I honestly did not believe the hype people were spreading about how bad it would be. I liked the original, didn't see the second movie.
It was bad, dude. There was no actual humor in the movie except for Thor being a goofball, and that wasn't even really funny. I almost fell asleep in the middle, it was just fucking deplorable.
The first movie worked because everything was serious except for the main characters, who were goofballs. The world around them actually seemed real and grounded, which is why their bluecollar ghost exterminator shtick was so funny, it was just on the border between cartoony and realistic, and that was great.
This shit was just a cartoon the whole way through, every character was a loud over the top asshole, the jokes were practically made looking at the camera, there was no grounding to it at all. It was a bad movie, but it wasn't even the kind of bad movie that's fun to watch.

Why is it that when Hollywood makes a new entry in a franchise they always ignore everything that was added to the franchise outside the original movies? With decent meaning that it's a movie that has its equal amount of bad and good all together that balances out, then I'm sorry to say, but that's doing this movie a little too good. At best, it's okay, just falling away from being bad, and that's taking more introspective thought to when the characters actually managed to get away from being the basic "wacky women with 21st century influences and traits" and got around to actually breaking out some phrases that managed to define them in small ways such as the original Ghostbusters did. Laughably so, the only time I actually found a woman in that film that actually had a fucking personality was at the end when Dana Barrett came around and managed to actually convey being a cold-hearted bitch in under two lines and literally blow the rest of the cast and their built-up nonsense of being overly obtuse about the explanation of various matters as well as essential jargon that was only really explained through some bullshit book that holds no relevance to the characters outside of choice references to the fact that, "Oh hey, these two characters did ghost stuff! That's a obscure reference, right?!"
The only time I actually got around to enjoying the movie was when McCarthy was the only one actually throwing around quips around and everyone else was actually able to get away from being some wacky girl that listed off smart jargon like it was from a shopping list (IE. McKinnon). Everything was so fucking obtuse and uninspired that I eventually only found relief in the fact that Chris Hemsworth managed to actually pull off bringing some fucking semblance of worth to the absolutely fucking embarrassment of a villain that the movie treats as some fucking big deal when, in all essence of the word, he's a fucking /r9k/ edgelord retarded aspie that mutters to himself.
I'd watch it again over other recent movies, I suppose, for it does get some things right, if that's any consolation.
