Even if this guy is Michael Bay trying too hard to make arthouse films, he is the only one who could make an Evangelion live-action movie without fucking up.
He loves Watchmen, which could be considered a comic book equivalent to Evangelion, and applied that deconstructive and cynical nature in Man Of Steel and Batman v Superman. In fact, if we consider how much he uses symbolism (especially judeo-christian) in his films, he could do a nice work adapting Evangelion. With an efficient writing, of course.

They should've never made a live action Watchmen movie and they should never make a live action Evangelion movie. Now go away.

nah he's a hack. his capeshit are just unwatchable atrocious cgi shitfests. He'd do the same to Evangelion.

Making an inferior adaptation of a great source, maybe?
evangelion is first and foremost character-driven - the symbolism is pretty much thrown in for flavor and not really that important to the story
snyder would 1:1 copy all the superficial stuff and miss the point of the core elements hard, just like he does with everything he adapts
