I'm coming into this discussion kind of late in the game, so I apologize if this has been covered, but that would be entirely dependent on how the story presents the thing. Your average moviegoer doesn't have a background in demonolgy, and will likely accept whatever the hell the movie decides to tell them. There are plenty of films about Angels and Demons behaving in ways that run contrary to common belief. We've seen movies where Angels become bad guys and demons are, while not necessarily "good," able to work with the good guys to achieve a common goal. The Prophecy is an example of both.
