It was around the time of the game TIE Fighter in which he is a major character that he becomes a Grand Admiral in the original canon and is sent by Palpatine into the Unknown Regions before returning a few years later 5 years after Palpatine's death. The second season was the only good thing though. The first season was just a collection of poorly designed vignettes. But the two storylines side by side in the second season was GOAT. I wish they could've replicated that in TCW, or even did a live action version.

We learned of Ezra's growing abilities. Kanan becoming a Jedi Knight. Hera finally being confident and resolving her daddy issues, Zeb also stopped being retarded about his heritage and actually became something other than big dumb guy. Even chopper got a day in the limelight. We also saw the rebellion grow from a small cell to a sizable threat. How is that filler? Every episode set up something by the finale. Even Sabine's trust issues are coming out in Season 3.
