Why does no one seem to like this film? I thought it was way better than District 9 and Battleship at least.

It is an awful movie, and I'm usually not that critical of movies.

>Retreat, hell...
One of the better war movies to come out in the last 10 years. Like blackhawk down with ayys.

>better than District 9
Kill yourself

I dunno. I liked it too, mostly for the spectacle and applying military kino onto sci fi.
The story is shit though.

The story is fine, its all you need. Nice and simple. Could have done without the annoying civilians, but most of them die, so its subverts that expectation.

>better than District 9
lol no.
It's certainly better than Battleshit though.

Wasn't better than D9 by a longshot, m8. Though if watched as a sequel it makes it a lot more enjoyable.

It had one of my personal favorite trailers of all time. Literally couldn't have sold it better.

>dat crescendo at the end that cuts off and...silence
Fucking grade a prime trailer.

It was a good alien invasion movie. I enjoyed the aliens actually using tactics and fighting similar to us. I also enjoyed them not just instantly being defeated at the movies end just because the heroes blew up something big. A bit heavy on the jingoism, but its understandable considering the characters.
Feels like a movie that was made for military people.

I saw this around the time Crysis 2 came out. Made it a hell of a lot more enjoyable desu.
Though if you think it's better than District 9 you're mentally subnormal.

It's okay, but once the helicopter gets shot down it just goes downhill.
passable entertainment/10
no real regrets spending time watching it, but wouldn't watch again
An Australian TV netrowk advertises this film once a year as a Friday night blockbuster, but every time they have played Battle Of Los Angeles, made by the Asylum.
Because of this, most Australians show generally disdain for this film when it is mention, having never even actually seen it.
