Alright guys, I'm curious to see how it's doing considering how awkwardly quiet Sony's been on ticket presales.

The goal is simply to get screengrabs of seet reservations from your local/popular cinema.

Feminists have been buying multiple tickets to show their support for the movie. Those seats probably won't even be occupied.

Reserving seats is very uncommon in America, and most theatres don't have the option to do it.

To be fair I don't think it's that much of a stretch. I say this because I remember at the time a guy on Twitter bragging about how many times he went to see BvS, and in IMAX 3D. In a thread anons guessed he must've spent more than 100 bucks on the movie. Although now that I think about it I can't remember if he claimed it was to support the movie or just to enjoy it

>>
>reserving seats

what the fuck is this?
>>
>>72028566
An increasingly more common occurrence. As fewer people go out to see a movie on average, only big tentpoles and kids movies get butts in seats. And, in order to avoid getting bad seats, you reserve early.
>>
>>72028566
A convenient way of going to the movies? Where do you live where they don't do this?
>>
>>72028566
Yea man, imagine it, an entire building built just yo watch movies, you go there sit down with loads of other people, usually cunts, and watch them in this big room.

Sometimes these places are pretty popular and fill up, so they give us the option to buy our seat before we even enter the building

I'm tellin ya man, the future is now :^)
>>
>>72028566
In my area, if you DONT reserve a seat a couple of hours ahead of time, by air time you won't have a seat to buy.

It's incredibly convenient when you get used to it, and is increasingly the option for any cinema goer.

But of course, you're a fat fucking autistic virgin that sits inside all day pirating YIFY versions of shit instead of actually going outside, so you wouldn't know that.

I don't know where you live but everyone I know buys tickets online. But maybe you're right.
Still, there is a very real percentage of people who book online, and how presale tickets are doing is a good indication of a films chance of success.

Take Marvel films or really any other blockbuster. Where I live they're always sold out either days or week in advance for the first few days in all the theatres locally. Those films always end up being box office hits.
Then there's others, say Independence Day R, that track reasonably well in online bookings, most seats booked for the first few showings but then drop off, becomes a box office success but not a hit.

You could still be right, but I think when Monday rolls around we'll find out. Thursday previews only pulled in $3 Mil, that's pretty pathetic.

Closest reserved seating theatre in Boston. Pretty liberal she city, and the show is a few hours away. far from sold out, which is pretty terrible or a movie that came out a few days ago.

Other two theatres have significantly low show times. One of them only showing it once a day.

I'm going say this once and only once, this may or may not be the thread to post this in nor I want to make a new thread.

For first, I believe that Ghostbusters shouldn't have been remade at all. It still would've been shit with all-male cast. The only way this movie would've work is if Harold Ramis was still alive.

Secondly, I believe that this movie only works with the right audience and that they shouldn't haven't use the Ghostbusters title and should have used a different title.

Sorry for being another anon to make a blogpost about my opinions.

TL:DR: Ghostbusters shouldn't called that to begin with.

>>
Part 1:
Poor men. You hear them at the office, in restaurants, in bars, their brains filled with meaningless facts about sports, cars and electronics as they entertain friends with their endless jokes about genitalia and bathroom activities, not to mention their humorous accusations as to the sexual orientation of their conversation partners. They loudly amuse themselves by hurling insults and epithets -- the words "dick," "balls" and "ass" being the etymological anchors of their attacks -- all for the express purpose of making one another laugh. They seem to be having such a great time that you'd feel like a monster alerting them to this one unfortunate fact: Men just aren't funny.

Oh, sure, there are men who truly make us laugh. None come to mind at the moment, but I know history has provided us with a few. Euripides was sort of a jokester. English poet John Donne got off a corker every once in a while. But in general, the male species' sense of humor seldom rises above the enjoyment of watching one of their own take a swift shot to the testicles.

It makes sense. Men are genetically programmed to hunt and gather. It is they who must impregnate the herd and protect the collective. And so it's only logical that their brains would need to possess lower humor standards in order to pass the hours entertainingly with their cohorts while stalking that night's dinner or standing guard against the enemy. Imagine if they had to amuse their fellow warriors with jokes and banter that were actually funny. That impossibly high standard would leave them in such despair that they would become easy prey. Imagine the despondent hero, now tribeless, wandering the wastelands and muttering in tragic self-awareness, "I can't believe I thought those limericks about that guy from Nantucket were funny."
>>
>>72030744
kill urself cleanshirt
>>
Part 2:
And so nature has provided humankind with two biological safeguards: 1) an intellectual anomaly that allows males to believe that they and their friends are funny, and 2) a survival instinct that impels women to laugh at men's jokes. As long as the men feel good about themselves, no matter how delusionary those feelings may be, the tribe will continue to function.

Is modern society now ready to transition away from the Myth of Male Hilarity? After all, today's world has erased most of the survival needs that once required a woman to inflate the comedic self-worth of the men around her. Grocery stores, police departments and in vitro fertilization perform the functions once reserved for her Y-chromosome counterparts. The 21st-century woman is finally free to reveal her comedic superiority and inform her penised inferiors that they will never again be permitted to make that "in my pants" joke.

Alas, women's evolved nature, along with their desire to avoid the dystopian nightmare of men trying even harder to be funny, causes them to withhold the soul-crushing revelation of masculine jocular inferiority. But many more women now also will continue to follow bravely in the footsteps of those pioneering females who elicited laughter before them, risking societal harmony in the name of making the world a more hilarious place.

So, hail to thee, funny women. Continue to remove the bushels from your bright and uproarious lights, and we in the know will laugh politely at the "funny men" as we wink to one another behind their desperate but well-meaning backs. It's just the right thing to do.

-Paul Fieg

I'm banking on them blaming Sterling/cop shootings on people being too scared to go to movie theaters.

I mean, never mind that people were still going to theaters to see SLoP last week even after the Dallas shootings, it's just that Sony's PR department has been so shitty that I wouldn't surprised they inadvertently blamed the Blacks and get even more people pissed off at them.

The reality is that the opening weekend aside it needs to keep that momentum up.

A lot of movies can have good openings but then drop substantially. Mad Max didn't have a great opening weekend (it got beaten by Pitch Perfect 2) but then it started gaining more and more momentum. It should be interesting to track the progress of ticket sales.

>>72036170
Do you know what fucking statistics are?
Because that's what they're using with heavy probabilities.

Not to mention the fact that they've jumped the gun on this whole part. Instead of later this night or tomorrow afternoon where they do all the number tallying.

It's two whole fucking days and they're counting money that's not even there yet. It could go either way. And if the GA that's hating it (lel the very few that are seein it anyway). The projections will be even worse.

$18-19mil is bogus as shit too. It's almost like trying to soften the blow without really knowing yet.

$13-15mil could be the real number when the dusts settles.
People love to hate shit, especially shit like this that's easy to hate.
