He proved he was acting purely out of familial loyalty and love, that he had honour far above his station, that his martial prowess is incredible, and that his courage is unquestionable.
Even if Jon were to die in the first episode of season seven, he is going to be remembered for centuries. His actions are the kind of heroic shit the North has passed on legends of for millenia; he is essentially one of the heroes from the stories the Starks were told as children.

Cunningham, Harrington, Headey, Nikolaj, Dinklage, and arguably Alfie are the only notably decent actors the show has left going into season seven - and they either get trash scripts to work with or fuck all screen time.
Fairley, Dance, Gleeson, Bean, Dormer, etc. are all gone - and even then, some of them had their characters and thus their performance go to shit towards the end.
