I love the dialogue, the visuals, and both Urban and Headey's performances. It's also eminently quotable and rewatchable.
To be honest the way you feel about Dredd is how I feel about The Raid, I enjoyed it but it didn't blow me away or anything, and I love martial arts.

I loved both movies. I saw similarities, but hell, both were great in their own ways.

even ignoring this stupid controversy, it blows my mind when people consider The Raid the better movie. The Raid has good action. Dredd has that on top of bringing to life an incredibly well-realized world and having interesting visuals and ideas behind it. it was so much more
I don't get why The Raid gets so much praise. I get that they're going for a martial arts bonanza, but that gets boring real quick. Combine this aspect with the fact that the acting is atrocious and the story is next to non-existent and you've got a movie that's a trial to get through.

Raid had excellent action. no doubt. hated raid 2. everything that made the raid good was gone for 2. dredd is a character study. and that's it. from his walk to his voice, it's a study of the ability to gain, control, and lose power and how to use it on others. juxtaposed against mama literally taking power, and then cutting it to the whole block

A faggot walks around with a baseball bat. he literally hits balls at guys. then there's a blind girl with hammers for what the fuck ever reason. then you have some boring gangster villain plot, rahma is around doing what the fuck ever, he fights a bunch of dudes, runs and jumps in a car, then all the bad guys just mob around the car and slowly and lazily wave their knives at him.
i got up. and walked THE FUCK out of the theater.
