What, exactly, is the point of this scene? It's very incoherent and has little relevance to the plot if any. What did Nolan mean by this?
>>
You could lob the same criticism against the rolling boulder scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Obviously it introduces the antagonist in a big way.
Shit anon if you want to start a debate on the structural validity of a film's prelude you can't expect someone else to do it all for you.

The boulder is the antagonist?

Now I'm the one guilty of poor structure.

No, obviously in Raiders it establishes that
>1 Indy has done this many times before
>2 The nature of his work
>3 also draws the audience into the film so they can be hit by about 20 minutes of exposition

Now the difference is Raiders was the first of a Franchise, in Batman we already know about his character, so it's sort of like a cold openning in Aqua Teen Hunger Force establishing this weeks/film's antagonist.

Have I cleared that up?
>>
>>71974291
yeah that was the purpose of the scene.

personally fuck if i can figure out why bane felt the need to do this complicated (and realistically impossible) shit if he could have just taken them all hostage at the airport then do whatever the point of crashing that thing with no survivors was.

It exists to show that Bane is able to plan outside the mindset of the CIA and people who're typically able to control most situations.
It shows that he's able to plan several steps ahead and isn't afraid of putting his own life at risk to ensure his own victory.

This scene is such a meme i can't think about it critically

They faked Dr Pavel's death so the CIA niggers would stop looking for him.
Then, they stole Wayne Enterprise's nuclear reactor, and had Dr Pavel turn it into a bomb.
The CIA niggers never saw it coming because they thought Pavel was dead.

The scene is basically supposed to answer viewer's questions like "why does batman have to save the day? Aren't there 3 letter agencies that can take care of Bane?"
Well no. Because Bane btfo them
>>
It's predictive programming, you know Mk ultra and shit.
They are preparing the public opinion about CIA planes and big corporations (big guys) chemtrailing society.
>>
>>71974194
To start the greatest meme in history
>>
>>71974642
Faked his death? The plane is torn apart, full of bullet homes, and has a random corpse with a couple of drops of Pavels blood in it.
>>
Nolan had an idea for a plane escape but had no way to put it into the actual movie so he just slapped it on during the nonsensical opening.

It's a "part 3 and everyone is tired of doing these movies"

As seen in: Spider-Man 3, iron man 3, captain America 3, xmen 3

Fuck off anon. This sequence of events was perfectly logical. Pick out one flaw in Banes master plan.

If they showed up and introduced dr pavel at the reactor scene we'd wonder how he got his hands on him

Nn..suuure. sure that's what I meant.

It's symbolic!
The boulder represented his past, that he was running away from.
It's pottery.

The Antagonist IS Indy. The boulder represents that.

To make it seem like the corpse they brought was Dr Paveleer.
It does make sense, would never work tho.
