Don't mind me, just being a young Estelle Getty, aka Sophia from The Golden Girls...

I'm not at all surprised that she was hot at one time. Every old, worn out woman was once very young and youthful.

Got damn! Reminds me of Rachel Weisz from The Mummy.

There is a theory that hollywood just copies certain types over the years and every new star is just a replacement of an old one.
Rue McClanahan looks like Cybill Shepherd who looks like Keira Knightly.
Paul Dano is Peter Fonda. Joseph Gordon Levitt is Dustin Hoffman. George Clooney is Carey Grant.

Except for the Cary grant/Clooney I don't agree with your specific examples, BUT...
It actually makes sense.
Like people are naturally drawn to what their familiar with, so if you can have an actor who vaguely mimics both in appearance and character of an already popular and established actor it's a shortcut to stardom.
It's kind of like how Oasis just ripped off the Beatles for the 90's, Justin Beiber originally looked a lot like Bobby Sherman or how brands will use thins like certain fonts or textures in the background of marketing material to subconsciously evoke a more successful brand.
or maybe I've just read too much Derrida and marketing blogs...
