Probably something do with the fact gore threads are missing colorful characters and a fun story to latch onto.
The Saw movies are patrician as fuck, mostly hated by try hard 13 year old boys who want to show how cultured and in love with cinema they are. The traps are a blast to watch. The major characters like Scott Patterson as the special agent in 4 / 5, Donnie Wahlberg in 2 / 3 / 4, Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, the health insurance executive in 6 and Costas Mandylor as the new Jigsaw in 4 - 7 are solid, fun, likable characters.
The storyline got convoluted as fuck with 4, but it was cool watching a single intertwining story get laid out over the period of 7 years. It was fun seeing them tie everything so tightly together. 5 would show scenes from 1 and 2 from a different perspective, it would show shit that happened during 3 that we never saw before, a bunch of shit before 1, 4 happened at the exact same time as 3, as also showed shit before 1, 6 showed shit between the events of 2 and 3, a mystery from 3 would get partially answered in 4 and then fully answered in 6, etc etc etc
The series is the definition of fun. The story is convoluted but that's part of the charm.

Literally no one. We find out Kramer's will had two tapes, one for the wife and one for Gordon. He's secretly been helping him from the beginning, and Gordon's last order is to kill Hoffman. He seals Hoff in the original room with the toilet, and throws the saw at the camera like a BAMF.
Unless this is some kind of reboot, there's nothing to work with. When eight was originally cancelled, they worked everything into seven.
Also I have no idea how we got seven Saws when Battle Royale was banned.

They should go to one extreme. Either keep it simple and grounded in reality or go full fucking hyper realistic and like a fairy tale. I think that was the problem with the original series. The first film Wan wanted to make it a serious, gritty horror movie because of the limited budget (although he originally wanted it to be really whimsical and fantastical), then in the sequels the traps got more and more elaborate but at the same time they were trying to ground them in reality. It clashed and didn't work all the time.
The thing is they could come up with some really visually stunning traps if they went full fairy tale. Think about how impossible and retardedly elaborate the murders are in the Hannibal TV show. But it works if that's the style you go for and if you have talented artists designing the traps / murders.

The final traps of 5 and 6 (Star Wars trash compactor and jaw trap on Costas Mandylor) were literally death sentences though. The victims were literally being executed. Mandylor wanted to kill Scott Patterson because he knew he was Jigsaw's accomplice so he used the trap. Jigsaw's wife wanted to kill Mandylor because she didn't trust him so she used the trap. There are no lesson to these traps because they literally were executions.
