I love this show, but I heard that the two comedy central seasons are awful, should I even bother watching 6 and 7?
>>
I love Futurama, and honestly, I think that a couple of the best episodes come from the Comedy Central era.

I can't remember which one it was exactly, but it's when Fry and the Professor (and someone else - can't remember) go on a journey through time, and something happens, and Fry is able to leave a message of Leila via dripping stalagmites in a cave or something. Very "Interstellar" and very cool.

Might as well watch them.
>>
They're all great.

That episode where it showed the dig waiting for fry made me cry.
>>
I don't think the Comedy Central seasons are much of a drop off if at all
>>
>>71955966
Bender. It was the last episode
>>
>>71956050
It's not, at all. I don't know who says that. It's like how family guy or american dad go up and down...
>>
>>71955911

They have some of the best episodes, but they also have some of the worst. It's definitely less consistent, but very much worth watching.
>>
There's a noticeable drop in quality in the most recent seasons after the show was uncancelled. A lot of it is still worth watching though.
>>
>>71956876
Eh

All shows go down in quality as th seasons go on. Has there ever been a show where the last seasons were better than the first?
>>
>>71955911
I only watched those seasons once when they aired, and I remember being actually annoyed by a couple episodes, the rest were kind of forgettable for the most part, but I don't recall them as bad.
I should re-watch them some time and give them another chance, really. But quite frankly, I'd rather re-watch the older ones, again.
>>
>>71955911
They're not awful really, but they're quite meh when it comes to humor. As >>71956927 said, they are some excellent episodes.
>>
>>71955911

The films werent good but the extra series were just as good, maybe some of the nostalgia was lost but the final episode was definitely GOAT
>>
The last reboot seasons are pretty bad, with only a handful of funny moments. They're not very memorable though.
>>
>>71957035

Futurama season 4 was better than the others
>>
>>71957252
Seaosn 4 is the "first few seasons" you shitlord
>>
>>71956061

No, the last episode involved Fry repeatedly dying as he was trying to propose to Leila.
>>
>>71957271

Not originally, it was the end
>>
>>71957035
Breaking Bad?
>>
Pre cancel season weren't normie enough for american audience

So im going to take a wild guess and say the newer ones are utter shit
>>
>>71957035
>Has there ever been a show where the last seasons were better than the first?

The Shield, The Sopranos, Mad Men >>71957308
>>
>Rise from the dead in the name of satan
>>
>>71957342
>>71957308

But S5 of Breaking Bad was easily the worst.
>>
>>71955911
There is no better way to describe season 6 and 7 other than literally readdit.
>>
Season 1-4 are in a league of their own

But 5-7 arn't bad
>>
>>71957665
https://einprozent.de/fahndung-nach-linkem-mordanschlag-in-wien/
>>
>>71955911
it also had some of the WORST episodes in the series

>cats taking over the world
>le iphone 9001

some of it was just incredibly drab as well, and the last episode if probably the best of them all
>>
>people defending the Comedy Central seasons
Jesus guys.
They were terrible.

Like, they stopped giving a shit about the conceit and just started topical jokes
Remember the Susan Boyle episode?
The iPhone one?

There's a scene where Zapp is trying to enhance a photo and says "It works on CSI!".
They didn't even gussy it up with a futury veneer.
It wasn't "CSI: Mars" or something.

They did that shit all the time.

And then there were the forced emotional moments trying to recapture the same type of feeling as Jurassic Bark or Luck of the Fryish.

Garbage. Straight garbage.
>>
>>71955911
There's like 4 great episodes in the Comedy Central run, and a lot of utter shit. The best one is Prisoner of Benda.
>>
>>71957768
SG-1 did it better.
>>
>>71957618
I enjoyed the season, but felt the ending was anticlimactic and the situation with Jesse was just silly. The show just torments him over and over and over again and it just felt to typical by the end for Walt to, once again, get a good break while Jesse suffers from Walter's mistakes.
>>
>>71955966
The Late Philip J Fry. Can't remember what season though

Easily one of the best episodes of the show imo
>>
>>71955911
The first Comedy Central season was awful, but I thought the last one was ok.
>>
>>71957918
>>71957618
The problem with the later seasons of Breaking Bad is that the show started to believe Walt's bullshit.
Walt got a big ego about being big bad Heisenberg.

Instead of having his comeuppance happen, the show preferred for Walt to be a badass.

What should have happened is that the Mexican cartels actually take him serious after the death of Gus and then they show up in earnest to shut him down.
Not two assassins on a family matter.
Pure practical business.

But no Walt escapes the consequences of his actions and the reckoning is actually just some neo-Nazi nobodies.
>>
>>71958211
Exactly what I meant. It infuriated me so much to have Walt walk away with nothing but pride while Jesse takes the front of it all and has his house, girlfriend, family, career, reputation, sanity all taken away. Walt should have died like a bad ass, but instead he gets the peace of knowing he's won.
>>
>>71956927
Pretty much this. Like what happens with most shows often times character traits that you enjoyed are heavily exaggerated but for the most part it is not nearly as out of control as other shows. I can not think of any episodes from the original run that I out right hated but there are several in the new seasons that I will just not watch. Give it a once through pick out the ones you like and forget the others.
>>
>>71958333
>Walt should have died like a bad ass
Walt should have died pathetically.
The whole thing started because he was too proud to take money from the man who cucked him.

Pride cometh before the fall.
He shouldn't have been rewarded in the slightest.

In my opinion, Jesse should have killed Walt and got away with some money to go live quietly in Oregon or something.
>>
>>71958453
I meant more along the lines of trying to squirm his way out with all his might of survival, only to be gunned down in the end as he should be. It could have took an interesting turn where there was a final episode in the perspective of Jesse as he gets out of the situation and leaves it all behind or something like that.
>>
>>71955911
>>71955966
Nah man, the comedy central seasons are so fucking good.
There are two episodes that genuinely made me tear up. The late Phillip J Fry this guy mentions is fucking great but the big nut kicker for me was the very last episode, I won't spoil it, but you really need to watch those 2 seasons to get the proper context, take your time with it, and then finally watch the finale, it's beautiful.
>>
>>71958648
>then finally watch the finale, it's beautiful.
Bullshit
Fry and Leela were off and on again the most during those last two seasons. And now we're supposed to believe that living alone together for 70 years has them still in love at the end? The Devil's Hands was a much better ending because they don't proclaim eternal love, but rather that they'd try.
Not to mention that Fry committing suicide over Leela not showing up is ridiculous
>>
>>71955911

I love futurama, and everything is worth watching, all seasons and all the movies.
>>
There are a few Comedy Central episodes worth watching, especially the finale, but most are completely forgettable. Many deal with current pop culture problems or fads and the tone and feel is really off with how blatant it is.
>>
>>71958648
Late Phillip J Fry is an easy 10/10 for both feels and comedy. Me and my brother still quote the prfessor's "Oh the vast emptiness!" when we run out of beer.
>>
>>71959529
The Professor getting lazier and lazier about killing Hitler was the one that got me
>>
>>71955911
Nah. They're alright.
>>
>>71959529
All the obligatory "tearjerker" threads after Jurassic Bark were inherently shit. Sorry to break it to you.
The one with Hermes and Bender was so bad I actually cancelled my cable.
>>
>>71960848
I actually dont even really like Jurassic Bark that much. This is the only feel one i really enjoy because they dont abandon the comedy to manipulate the audience. Its balanced, unlike most of them.

The Leela and Cubert alternate future is crap though.
>>
>>71957744

The later seasons have their shit moments but they are redeemable for the fact that the characters are already developed and they can pretty much do whatever they want with the cast. The sci-fi episodes like Prisoner of Benda, Neutopia, A Clockwork Origin, Benderama are pretty great for the most part.
>>
>>71959019
On Season 2 now.
>>
really only the "DVD movies" were bad.

the last season was pretty solid. I like what they did with Zoidberg later on
>>
>>71961485
>its zoidberg falls in love with a human flower saleswoman with no sense of smell episode
Great side character but Zoidberg centric episodes are all irredeemable trash.
>>
>>71959626
>just slow down and I'll shoot him as we go by
>>
>>71961485
I liked Movie #1 and #4. The middle two were completely skippable.

The CC episodes were good, OP. Not great, like the original seasons, but good enough not to skip. The overall consistency takes a hit, but when it's good, it's fucking great.

The episode with a simple stupid plot (the gang all become firefighters!) is one of my favorites.
>>
>>71961570
The one where he's at the Martian casino is fairly good.

>>71962780
Fuck that movie for retconning that
>>
>>71955911
First 4 seasons are 9/10, while the CC seasons and move are more like 7/10. Still worth watching though
>>
>>71957744
yeah, i didn't like when they started getting all topical.

the original run and the movies are good. i liked how the fourth movie ended. don't know why everyone hates them. the only one i didn't like was bender's game, but the other three were good.
>>
>>71957035
you can't just say eh this isn't reddit
>>
>>71962816
didn't really retcon it. it still happened. and the fry that went back and got to live life with seymour isn't the fry that the show follows. that fry became lars and bit the fucking dust
>>
>>71964154
But Seymour didn't die alone, a Fry came back for him.

That's a retcon
>>
yes you should watch them
>>
>>71955911
If you really do love the show, then even crappy episodes should be worth watching. It's a half hour show for gods sake. You ever try watching a season of star trek? That shit takes forever
