Would you see a Don Rosa Scrooge animated movie?
>>
>>71915210
Sure.
>>
It has the possibility of being absolute kino. Don Rosa weaved a surprisingly abject tale of humanity with The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.
>>
>>71915210
Me on the left
>>
>>71915210
nope...humanity today dont deserve such kino yet
>>

Id totally watch it

It would be a masterpiece.
>>

>>
>>71916691
I barfed
>>
>>71915210
Hell yes I would, but Don Rosa himself would have to be involved, and he is going blind unfortunatly.
>>
>>71915210
Yes. I'm not sure what else to say. I'm just huge fan of Donald Duck comics overall and well almost everyone familiar with those would say this, but Carl Barks and Don Rosa are just legends.

But Don Rosa's stories could make a good movie, if they could somehow replicate his style in an animated movie.
>>
>>71916691
True

Don Rosa is for normies
>>
Out of curiosity, where are you guys from? It's my impression that Don Rosa and Carl Barks are more famous outside of the USA?

Is this a Nordic circle jerk?
>>
>>71915210
Yep. In a heartbeat.

Maybe Life and Times is too extensive, but I'd love to see an adaptation of The Universal Solvant and The Black Knight or any of the treasure hunts

Norway here, even got Don Rosa's autograph
>>
>>71915210
It should be a high budget animated series adapting both Barks and Rosa stories, one of its main goals would be too have a coherent timeline from start to finish and stay as truthful as possible to the original comics
>>
>>71917495
Yes. I had a pretty big collection of his and Donald's comics. I don't know if the quality is still the same nowadays, but it was great 10 years ago.

Yes. Treasure hunter/pioneer Scrooge was a badass, even in the ones where he is old Scrooge with Donald and the grandkids.

Yeah, absolutely. His stories revolve around Rio's touristic points and favelas.
Also, if you're interested in the character, Don Rosa made a great story with Zé Carioca, Donald and a mexican rooster named Panchito. The story is called The Three Caballeros Ride Again. I would search for you, but I'm on my smartphone, shouldn't be too hard to find.

How would they do the art style though? Rosa as a consultant? Because his eyesight is so bad now that he can't really draw almost anything anymore. I'm not saying that he would draw the movie on his own even if he was healthier, but his style is so singular that I wonder how they would go about making the film work?

Let me tell you why they do this, then. Initially theye used single final points to end phrases but they were usually erased when printed because they were mistaken by dirt. Writers then began to use exclamation marks to never have to face this kind of crap again.

USA here. Me and my whole family absolutely loved the scrooge mcduck comics growing up, and we all adored don rosa, who by the way, made the greatest comic book ever, the life and times of scrooge mcduck. My dad is from germany, and he wouldn't let us watch TV growing up, but he had tons and tons of asterisk and obelisk, tintin and Disney comics that he brought over from europe. So me and my siblings would literally sit amongst piles of these comics reading for hours, which are some of my fondest memories.
This thread made me want to cry desu.

Also why is Europe so badass at making comics/why are comics so much more popular over there than here in the states? Is it just cuz Americans watch more movies and TV or something?
>>

Norway. Donal Duck is very popular over here. I was raised on the stories of Barks, Rosa, Rota and Scarpa. I also like Mickey, but not to the same degree. Gottfredson>Murry.

10/10 thread

An animated movie capturing the magic of Don Rosa would be absolutely amazing. It is storytelling at its very finest.

I'm Norwegian, and as you can tell from this thread we were brought up with these stories. My parents have collected all the old comics and have them in their comfy attic. They are just waiting for the new generation of kiddos to grow old enough to read.

>>71922597
Don Rosa Scrooge to me rivals even the best superman/batman stories, is "serious" in the sense that is not too campy but neither full Snyder, I doubt Disney would ever adapt the stories, especially in 2D, maybe 10 or 20 years ago.

Is funny how re-reading Scrooge stories highlight how much the dialogues were changed to a much cleaner lingo, hell I feel the italian language of the ducks and mouses is always devoid of any kind of lingo....except when they are trying to deliver a specific point like when talking about technology, I still remember that hoe blabbering about her daily internet activity and mentioning "trolling".

Fantasia was supposed to be about the innovative new animation techniques, I mean there should be one in 3D, but I guess the closest thing is that one made from the design sketches of the Dalì collaboration which never realized itself.
>>
i just want to say that this is the first thread in ages here when there's no shit posting or "memes". it was actually almost enjoyable to read through.

and most of it is barely even /tv/ related. anyway nice change of pace, considering there's still probably few got threads and more than needed ghostbusters threads.
>>
>>71923185
But anon, Walt wasn't going to make another Fantasia while he was alive. The middling reviews (many critics outright called it pretentious!) and piss-poor box-office returns (due partially to World War II killing the foreign market, most theaters refusing to install the recommended sound system for it [which killed word-of-mouth because standard theater sound systems in that time were crap and fucking ruined the movie], and expensive ticket prices) would be terrible for any movie. On top of all that, Fantasia was expensive enough to make that even if it were more popular than Gone With The Wind, it still would have been a major loss for the Disney studio. Making Fantasia nearly killed the Disney empire in its crib, and as much as he wanted to make more Fantasias, he fucking knew it.

At least Walt lived long enough to see it get the reputation Fantasia deserved, though.

Also, as >>71923479 said, there was another Fantasia.

This Scrooge story ripped off some Eastern European movie. It was actually a fan submitted idea, Rosa didn't know it came from somewhere else.

And Inception ripped off Paprika.
>>
Don Rosa threads are always the comfiest, regardless of board. Even when they happen on /v/.

I suspect it's because they attract older Europeans and keep the American kiddies out though.
>>
>>71923739

A Life and Times film would top cinema charts for weeks in many European countries.

A fucking fan music album of it was enough to make the top 10 in several countries here. The demand is outrageous. Too bad Hollywood and Disney have no idea.

>Norway here
>met Don Rosa
How long was the line? I'm in Minneapolis in the US and he came here. I got up early ready to stand in line. I was super excited. I woke up later than I planned and got nervous. I arrived and there wasn't a single person standing at his booth. Not one. I walked right up, talked with him and got a sketch. Saw him speak to about 20 people under a staircase in the hall and then got him to sign Life & Times afterward, again with no wait. He was super fucking friendly.

Not that anon and I'm from Denmark, but I met him some years ago. The line was fairly big, a lot of kids. I think I waited half an hour. Donald Duck is the best selling comic here.

He was wearing a "I'm big in Finland" shirt and was laughing about nobody showing up since he's used to it.
