It's not even out for a few more days, but most people who have seen it at early screenings loved it. It's going to have great word of mouth and will almost certainly be a success. It's alright to admit that the trailers were misleading about the quality of the film and that you were wrong to take such a strong stand against it without watching it first.

I haven't been following it as obsessively as the rest of this board has been, but i honestly don't think this was an attempt to pander to feminists.
Sure, it was probably in the back of their heads, but putting girls in a movie where it was previously all men isn't necessarily "feminist", it's just switching up the dynamic of it. To assume that it's pandering to feminists is the same as assuming that the philando, Brown, etc. killings were fueled by racism.

No, I don't think the movie needed a reboot in the first place, but that doesn't inherently make it bad either.

Everyone else, like me, should wait to see it before laying out judgement. Which is true of anything.

If you feel the script is bloated, watch gameplay of the Wii version, they really trim it down so its more movie-ish.

Also it's not just a straight downgrade, because a different company worked on it and mad the maps different while focusing more on puzzles rather than combat. iAlso it's sorta encouraged to destroy as much as possible.

RLM is allowed to unironically say "this movie is shit because women aren't funny". They don't have corporate overlords at Audible and Lootcrate and Crunchyroll to please.

If Ghostbusters fails (which it probably will), it won't be because of evil misogynist trolls from 4chan, Reddit, Twitter and YouTube (although that's who will get blamed). It will be because it was a stupid concept for a movie. Consider:

Men don't want to see a movie where all the leads are female comics.

Women don't want to see movies about busting ghosts.

So who's the audience? Only fanny flustered SJWs and leftist nerds, who will not spend enough to make up the enormous marketing budget.

I think putting in four women as the Ghostbusters instead of the more natural choice of two men and two women as the new gen of Ghostbusters is definitely pandering. Natural diversity, not some petty "revenge" should be the goal of progressives when it comes to media representation.

Of the two prominent male characters in the story, one is the villain and portrayed as a nerdy loser, and the other is their secretary who has been described by the cast as "a Ken doll with the insides scooped out".

So...yeah, not the male friendly film. Where does the feminist hate boner for nerds come from? Of all the demographics to relentlessly shit on, shouldn't it be sports teams, you know, places that are the hotbed of "toxic masculinity"?

We thought it was a good opportunity to banter about the movie out loud and whatnot but the fucking Cineplex nazi came in and scolded us anyway.
>>
>>71912368
Its at least going to be a very close race between this and Pets. But fuck me if Sony isn't worried about this. Its hard enough for a movie to compete with a financially successful animated movie in the summer, but then the following week you have the sequel to a popular live action sci-fi series and a sequel to ANOTHER successful animated movie. Even if Ghostbusters didn't have the most downvoted trailer in Youtube history and all that other crap, the studio would still be pissing their pants about this situation. Reminds me of when Superman Returns opened the week before Pirates, and we all know how that turned out.
