I still disagree, there is a light brevity to a lot of his early work but there's nothing sexual to it, it's all very cute, and little more.
And the viewer alienation is still always there, in the discontinuity editing, in the wide objective angles, such impersonal cinematography.
What I get from his early films is almost the feeling of watching a puppet show, beautiful as she is I can scarcely think of a less sexual way to shoot Anna Karina than her frolicking the length of a wide shot in pastel clothes.
