Would this actually work?

I asked my dad.

He said probably.
>>

Ask /o/
>>
>>71845121
yes
those big fucks are the air intake for the fuel/air mixture that makes the engine go
what Max is doing is just spiking the incoming air to change the fuel/air ratio and make the engine work harder

though it's dangerous as fuck since you could make the engine work too hard and blow

Yes it would work but it wouldn't be good for the engine long term.

It would have to be the correct mixture of nitromethane and alcohol to keep a proper fuel/air mixture.

But yes it could work

I still get confused about the setting in the first Mad Max

The world is obviously decaying but there's still clubs, diners, garages, ice cream shops etc, even a court of law

What happened in between 1 and 2? Because IIRC they're only a few years apart
>>
Would this actually work?
>>
>>71845700
I think the first one is supposed to be set "5 minutes" before shit hits the fan. The world is still intact, for the most part, but it's teetering on the edge of the setting of the second film.
>>
>>71845700
Simple answer: the first movie had fuck all for a budget.

Apparently it was between 2 and 3.

The MM timeline is pretty loose but I believe 3-5 years pass between 1 and 2 during which the fuel shortage causes society to break down, mass looting, pillaging etc., with the small biker gangs evolving into larger bands of crazies.
>>
>>71845918
While it was never made clear in the movies, the comics that followed Fury Road make canon that there was a nuclear war after part 1 and before part 2.

It does, but it's implied it's all in a war between the US and the Eastern Power Blocs, of which Australia was presumably not involved with. They definitely get at least one nuke in 3, as Max has a geiger counter, waves it over a guy selling water and it goes crazy.
>>
>>71845121

NOS works pretty much the same way, it just enriches the air with some extra combustive fuel.

>>
>>71845700
The original was during a depression of sorts, along with wars for oil between Russia and the US. Sometime between 1 & 2, shit hit the fan, and the oceans disappeared somehow. Chronology of the film's is still up for question, however, the original is considered to be the first because it's the only normal one.

My theory:

They're hunter gatherers who live in the swamps by fishing, eating crows, and eating plants. They use stilts to get around because you don't want to be stuck in swampwater. They resemble the stilt walkers of france, they were herders and used stilts to get around the moors and swampy areas.

>>
>>71845700
It's implied society at large is rapidly breaking down, but MM1 is set by and large in the outback, so you don't really see too much of that outside of the understaffed police force and the biker gang terrorising the town.
>>
>>71846665

Go look at the behind the scenes for this movie.

Regardless of what your opinion of the movie is, the car guys that worked on this were ridiculous.

One dude payed out of his own money to make sure Immortan Joe's flagship ride really had two engines when the studio just wanted to do 1 + a dummy.
>>
2 > 4 > 1 > 3
>>
>>71845506
Because originally it going to be Goose
>>
>>71845506
He was involved in a horrible motorbike crash and his best friend took off into the desert. His workforce was falling apart and he lost all faith in obeying the law, and paired with his disfigurement he decided to shun what was left of society

>there are a lot of police cars and gear in Humungus' crew
>Humungus is Goose
>>
>>71846874
No.
>>
>>71846684
Maybe it didn't disappear, but it did shrink a few 100 meters, and created thousands of miles of ocean floor turned deserts.
>>

>One dude payed out of his own money to make sure Immortan Joe's flagship ride really had two engines when the studio just wanted to do 1 + a dummy.

A nuclear war on the other side of the planet destroyed the oceans. There were resource wars and water wars.

Humungus could be this guy

>Big guy
>Strong leader
>Former police in his gang
>Smith and Wesson pistol could easily have been his back in the MFP days

Throw in that he could have suffered a horrible facial injury, lost a bit of weight in the wasteland and gathered up some of his former men and others thinking 'fuck this' and gone out by themselves
>>
I thought Fury Road was alright but not something I would rewatch, I haven't rewatched since I saw it during it's theatrical run and now I can't remember what he's doing in the op.

TL;DR whats he doing?
>>
>>71846783

>>
>the wall of speakers on the Doof Wagon was actually real and they all worked

>>
>>71846948
some people just love building something great?
>>
>>71847053
because its the most influential? The universe, costumes, vehicles and the final chase...

1 was just a bikeersploitation flick with some above average creative ideas.
4 is 2 on speed
3 is shit

2 is the most important one.
>>
>>71846948

I knew a guy who did bikes for films, got really annoyed when the films got it wrong and often tried to pay out of pocket to fix shit.

Him and a lot of his mates were pissed that at the end of Saving Private Ryan the "German" Bike at the end is clearly Russian.

The industry of getting paid to rent bikes and cars for movies is dying out because re-enactors now do it for free because they love it and will make sure everthing is correct out of pride.

>Why does everyone rate 2 so much?

It's near-perfect all across the board, plus it's probably the most influential piece of post-apocalyptic media of all time. If you see a TV show, a movie or a video game set in a world after the end, it'll very often take at least something from the Road Warrior.
>>
>>71847147

But the characters are so shit. Everyone inside the refinery except the mechanics. That general, that girl with the stupid hair the guy who is like something out of Status Quo or something, the pilot.

3 had better characters (only true of Bartertown), just a shit plot.

But the people in the refinery are just regular people trying to live their lives, they're not supposed to be terribly interesting

But Max, Wez, the Gyro Captain, the Humungus and his gang are all great characters and they're the ones you remember, as they're more important to the plot anyway and keep the story going.

It's never been confirmed who's in the photo, although I suppose the obvious answer would be him. He's got a German Totenkopf skull and bones, too, which is pretty interesting. You can see a few guys in his gang who've got military fatigues, too.

Mad Max
The world is dealing with an oil shortage/economic crisis. Not terrible but things are bad.

Mad Max 2
Takes place 5-10 years after Mad Max where the oil has effectively run out and war has taken place to secure the remaining resource. World War 3 now balloons into nuclear war which wipes out most of the world.

Mad Max 3
5-10 years after Mad Max 2 in which the world is recovering from World War 3 and those who survive live on the fringes as a pre industrial people both unaware and aware of what happened in the before times.

There's your story.
>>
