Jesse Eisenberg in anything, really.

why does this cunt even have a career
>>
Perfect Lex origin story. Starts off proto-Lex, fucks Batman and Superman's shit up, Creates a God monster, learns the knowledge of the cosmos, and finally jailed.

Now he's Lex
>>
>>71808932
he looks kind of like zuckerberg

that's it

agreed anon Lex was amazing in BvS, a solid pleb filter.

BvS, True Detective S2 and Only God Forgives are probably the most accurate pleb detectors.
>>
>>
>>71808863
Thought he was miscast, changed my mind after watching bvs.

He was a great villain

All worth it for this single line delivery

Serious: Cameron Diaz in Gangs of New York, Secondarily DiCaprio, who is great in every other Scorsese role, in Gangs of New York.
>>
>>71808863
More like pleb filter performance.

>Whiny spergs don't like it and cringe because he acts too much like them.
>Fanboys cry because not muh Luthor

Bravo Snyder
>>
>>71808993
Exactly, just because he wasn't the same s the animated character doesn't make him a bad choice. He still felt like lex principly, just a younger moron immature version

It's like saying Heath was bad because he was different to nickleson... Or Romero.

You have to judge them on their own merits.
>>
>>71808993

some of his stuff falls flat like the puns at the end of BvS UE with Batman and the ding ding ding scene, but there was definitely something to his manic snake oil salesman take on Luthor, the part where he meets Clark and Bruce especially, he was literally the smartest man in the room and neither of them had a clue about what he was doing/about to do.

With Superman's inevitable resurrection they should do a version of this scene with Lex, his reaction being quite the opposite.

Lex was accurstely portrayed as a larger then life villain with a god complex suffering from making his delusions of grandeur into reality. Of course he would say something akin to that. The line perferctly fits the context and the scene. You should cringe at your lack of understanding.
>>
>>71809788

I originally wrote "pangs of sympathetic embarrassment," but then I changed it to be in terms of cringing because I felt the first way around sounded pretentious. What words would you use to describe that concept?

How so?

This film was very heavy on show don't tell which got a lot of /co/mblr tards confused as there wasn't QUIP-EXPOSITION-QUIP structure to the story and narrative (as in Marvel flicks)
>>
>>71809852

Didn't go to this school, but it's the first link that came up when I googled for an explanation of this concept:

Having Lex repeatedly shout about the stupid god metaphor is bad writing.

>>
>>71809928
People go to these lengths, to find script theory essays about writing, to shit on BVS but when Marvel has a film that if you put it on mute you couldn't tell what is happening, nobody here bats an eye.

Fucking idiotic amount (and effort) people put into hating this film.

and no citing a paper someone else made doesn't make for an argument.
>>
>>71809919

That doesn't answer my question. You're trying to argue the thing doesn't exist, I'm asking how would you describe that thing. It doesn't have to be in reference to that specific movie either, I'm just asking for an alternative way to describe something that makes you cringe in embarrassment for another person or their work.
>>
>>71809928
>Having Lex repeatedly shout about the stupid god metaphor is bad writing.

Wut? The scene with lex and Superman is the only time he rants about the god delusion,
>>
>>71809949
Having read Red Son, N52 JLA, Man of Steel, Morrison JLA the film captured most of the ticks and tocks of Superman really well, having read the Dark Knight MIller stuff (I read more than what was recommended) he handled Batman really well too.

I mean I haven't read comics outside of these (it was a list posted here) and what I read was visible in the films. Some of the stuff got changed for worse (Pa Kent Invisible Son logic is in the Man of Steel comic, but in a different non-retarded way) and that narrative is my only gripe and even then it's just like 1/3 of that very narrative that spans the two films.
>>
>>71809923
Actually it's the opposite for this character.
They originally had a traditional Lex but after a casting couch with Jessi they liked him so much that Snyder rewrote the character to fit him
>>
All of DC sucks except Batman because they're all overpowered as fuck.

Take Superman for example, he literally fights invulnerable gods like Darkseid or Doomsday because everything else is pointless.

Not to mention the Flash who is even more imba.

>Even if he were a great actor (which he isn't) his performance in that movie would still be shit because the writing was shit.

>IF MAN WON'T KILL GOD THAN THE DEVIL WILL!

The line perfectly suits the context of the scene and the character who uses it, Luthor, who spends hours drinking scotch staring at a Paradise Lost painting fantasizing about angels, and demons, while it just recently came into mind that a superhuman from a different planet shitted on him by existing and making it apperent his time spent staring at Paradise Lost was a waste of time.

Superman's existence throws Luthors world view on a tilt, which causes him to run rampant logically trying to piece together the true nature of God, Superman, his place in the cosmos, while also feeling infinitely smaller in comparison to the scope of this newfound reality of God's from other planets.

In order for Luthor to feel big in his superego mind again, he devises a plot to kill Superman, using Batman, and an exigency plan if Batman fails by creating doomsday.

His obsession with theism and wanting to kill a demigod makes that line form fitting of his character.

It should have stopped at "smear campaign to discredit superman, build kryptonite weapons and then force Superman into a fight with Batman". They still could have come together at the end for an action setpiece, but they didn't need to force Doomsday into the movie.

Wonder Woman was wholly unnecessary as well

someone explain why znyder did this

>superman never questions who and for what reason his image was being tarnished
>batman never questioned why superman prevented him from getting the kryptonite and let lex's henchmen get away with it

the movie would have functioned better if superman thought that maybe it was batman and if batman thought superman was doing dirty work for lex (for whatever reason) amping up his paranoia

Ah, I liked it. Thought it was decent overall, with Cavill's 'acting' and Goyer's 'writing' being easily the weakest parts.

Superman was only active for two years at that point. He was already conditioned to people wanting to smear him over the battle with Zod. And batman didnt question it because he knew Superman was only after him for being an executioning vigilante at that point.

Because BvS was actually a well crafted film with layers of complexity that a simple minded person would need several viewings of it to really grasp the subtle nuances of all the details.

Grace was cast fine, he was supposed to be a foil to Peter and more akin to the Ultimate version of the character. It was a failure of writing to portray the character the way they did.

Dunno, just thought the writing was dumb. I view WW as a bashful warrior. An Amazon who's spoiling for a fight. Basically a female Thor with different powers.

It'd have been cool to see her taunt it with some "is that the best you got? Beating you will be a trifling matter" or some shit - even if it's not a particularly inventive line. Maybe my view of WW is too influenced by the newer animated movie I saw of her. It just fit in my mind. WW is a badass warrior princess, not some hard-to-define 1-dimensional chick who happens to be able to fight a bit.

Hot damn.

Christopher McQuarrie is a very good action/thriller director and that credit goes both to Tom and McQuarrie in that case.

I'm sad that Christopher ain't directing the new Jack Reacher film because his good directing carried a film that sohuld've been mediocre by all rights

His Mission Impossible film was top notch even better
