Jesus Christ, so I guess male protagonists are off the table now? Everything has to have a female protagonist otherwise its sexist? I'm not against female protagonists, but it almost seems like having a male in the lead role of one of the biggest franchises of all time is taboo now. I mean, its not as believable when the title literally has "WARS" in it and involves lots of battles, and you see a female somehow owning lots of trained male soldiers in combat.

Males can enjoy the previous movies or Marvel movies if they don't like the female main character.
Kids don't buy toys now and casual female children and adults fans probably spend more money on merchandise. It also works better for getting viewers interested in other Disney stuff because that mostly appeals to female viewers.
Disney got lots of female fans just by putting a guy many for some reason found attractive in the movie. I don't think Natalie Portman or Carrie Fisher got Star Wars many male fans.
