What does /tv/ think of The Purge?

I think it's becoming a cult series. I'm hoping they keep using the same director.
>>
They've captured the "Fast and the Furious" audience. So yeah, they'll make a ton of money from idiots.
>>
Black girls don't act like that.
>>
The Purge: Race War when?
>>
>>71787392
>not going out to see it with your lads
miserable cunt
>>
>>71787361
It's literally happening outside in Dallas right now.
>>

I actually really liked Election Year. Sue me.

Yea they do

> $.25 has been deposited
It was terrible
>>
>>71787808
I saw it in theaters and was pleasantly surprised. It reminded me of The Warriors.
>>
can I watch election year without watching the other 2?
>>
>>71787896
no, timmy
>>
I really enjoy the concept for an entertainment thriller, but haven't enjoyed the films. It's like they try to elevate the film by giving it a generic subplot the production ins't even that much into...
>>
>>71787896
I've never seen the 1st. I'd actually see the series in reverse. 3rd was pretty good senpai. 2nd was aight. I heard the 1st was clumsy.

But nah, you're not missing out on much. Just a few details that you'd catch if you saw them all.
>>
>>71787361
Interesting concept but is not practical in any way even in a movie setting
>>
someone just spoil the ending for me right now
>>
>>71787996
The first one was just a complete wasted potential.

>a premise that brings to mind complete chaos where the whole of the United States has a 12 hour roit and slaughter fest
>confine it to a single house
I get that there were budget restrains but if you can't go all out then what;s the fucking point?
>>
>>71787991
I'm the opposite. When the first movie came out, I was like "really guise.."

But then once I was able to accept the concept of the movie as campy sci-fi, I really became a fan of the series. It really clicked with Election Year when I saw it in theaters. I wasn't even really planning on seeing it, but I had to pick a movie for July 4. And it was a good movie to catch in theaters. The director is getting better with each movie. Over the top characters, campy but still scary.. Contemporary sci-fi without lasers or aliens.
>>
>>71788073

>I get that there were budget restrains but if you can't go all out then what;s the fucking point?

to make money

A sequel is coming

What is Straw Dogs? It was a straight up home invasion thriller.
>>
>>71787409
These are spoiled rich bitches, likely all daughters of congressional representatives in the first place. With the limitation on politicians gone, the puffball girl admits they already killed her parents tonight.
>>
>>71787896
I'd at least see #2. The first one in an invasion movie and sets up some background details, but you can jump into Anarchy and be as caught up pretty quick.
>>
>>71787361
omg wouldn't it be hella awesome if the purge was real guys?

you could totally blow off steam and be good for a year later

I would purge her right in her purger

if you know what i mean
>>
>>71788383
>She's not even looking at you

Also, I thought the purge movies were dumb, but now that I see how many people think one night of crime and violence would be "LEL SO EPIK XD" I definitely want to kill some of them.
>>
>>71788406
>She's not even looking at you
She doesnt have to
>>
>>71788427
What?
>>
Is it just me or do these movies all feel distinctively "Lionsgate"? There's just a certain vibe to ever single movie I've ever seen them distribute, apart from maybe Sicario, so it always strikes me as odd when I'm reminded Universal put these out.
>>
The Purge only works if you fail to think about it for over 5 mins
>>
>>71788330
Like any of these chubby pasty white neckbeards would be anywhere but their padlocked basement to wait out the whole thing.
>>
>>71788461
hmm?

This

The idea that a government would allow such a retarded idea is far more plausible than the implication that costumed butchers would actually be out running around. You'd have fucking coalitions of people sitting up on rooftops with automatic weapons ready to defend their neighborhoods. It would actually be suicide for the bandits.
>>
>>71788533
>You'd have fucking coalitions of people sitting up on rooftops with automatic weapons ready to defend their neighborhoods
Which is what happens in the movies, you tard

Very cool concept for a franchise but the execution is pretty bad

>Edgy leftist propaganda: The film

The only people who consider this "cult" are 20 year old liberal college kids and teenagers who dress in black.
>>
>>71788639

Not in the first two, bandits roam around freely while normies cower.
>>
>>71788639

That never happens at all.
>>
>>71787361
is literal, unironic astroturfing the next big meme?
>>
>>71787361
You can only turn your brain off so much before a movie becomes retardedly unbearable. The Purge series is where that line is drawn.
>>
>>71788402
whats a purger?
>>
>>71788748

We've been told that if our normal marketing is being too easily detected then the best way is just to go with it, as long as the posts continue and the discussion is happening.
>>
>>71787361
It's shit. The most remarkable thing about the series is how much wasted potential there is in the premise.
>>
>>71788848
The premise is retarded. It's great that they play it straight and spin all these dumb ideas off of it like purge insurance and government false flags and purge victim collectors and murder tourists.
>>
>>71788744
The third one focuses heavily on people defending their shit and helping during the Purge, you fucking windowlicker.
>>
3 was literally hillary clinton and minorities vs the evil nazis. Oh and just so you know that they're racist let's give them 5 different types of swastikas and a rebel flag.
>>
>>71789665

You said movies, plural. It happens in one movie, singular.
>>
>>71789688
That was my first post in the thread, retard.

i turned this shit off after like 20~ minutes

I don't think you know what that means.

Gay shit, Manhunt adaptation when?
>>
>>71790103

Manhunt is really more Running Man than Purge.
>>
>>71787808
How about u fuck right back off to /r9k/

Its both terrible and fun, probably the best of the 3. Its just a rediculous series with a rediculous plot, but its far from unredeamable.
>>
>>71790313
you can't even spell you dumb fuck, what makes you think you know what kino's are

the purge is fucking trash
>>
>>71790378
R u upset?
>>
How the fuck do you go from Home Invasion Thriller to Hillary Clinton Fanfiction in the span of just three movies?
>>
>1st movie is just a shifty slasher
>2nd movie had some light "muh diversity" undertones but nothing worse than your average TV show
>3rd is full on kill all Christians vote for Hillary

How did this happen?

Has any movie been shilled as hard as this one on /tv/ ?

Jesus fuck, it's a garbage flick. The "bandits" are fucking cringeworthy, the only good thing was the schoolgirl from the first movie
>>
>>71787361

omg i hate trump now
>>
>>71790934
problem child 2, those guys wont give up
>>
>>71787361
They're pretty shit. Watched the 2nd one because it's meant to be good. It's shit; the action was crap (boring gunplay and shaky cam), the gore was pretty fucking tame for an R rating, and the general concept (basically Escape From New York) was underutulized in favor of "fucking rich 1%-er scum! Grrr" shit.
>>
>>71791640
Adding to my post, see Crank 1&2 for pulp/B-movies done right
>>
i thought i was really bad but just watched em both and i dont feel like i wasted my time, really
>>
>>71787361
what is the appeal of these movies and how do they make enough to continue producing them
>>
>A night of unlimited crime somehow solves all of the country's problems
>People can do anything they want but they just limit themselves to kill each other and behave like they were on a Mad Max movie
>Apparently at least 50% of the US population is composed of psychopaths

The purge is shaping up to be one of the most polarizing series on /tv/. Half appreciate the over the top, jingoist quasi-satire, the other half see it as some kind of normie, liberal jerk of session. The crazy part is that its both.

I can't watch them on the basis of the premise making no sense and is merely a lazily conceived vehicle for some dumb visuals and action.

you say that posting a final fanstasy image

thats not at all what that was implying bud
