Well the mac10 is likely rule of cool, but as for the revolver, some of those things are powerful enough to actually be able to hit a target that is far away enough to need the scope. I don't know enough about guns to say if that one is or not, but I know it's not unheard of. It's probably just rule of cool as well either way.

His tissue are denser/stronger than a normal human's due to the serum or vita-rays, clearly. Otherwise he'd have gotten the body of a strongman.

It's funny because I think the director did intend it as a joke. Basically in the commentary he says that he's annoyed by how people just seem to like scenes of guns shooting so he put in this long scene where they're leveling the forest with guns and it's totally useless.

http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Predator#GE_M134_Minigun_.28Handheld.29
>Nicknamed "Ol' Painless", a hand-held M134 Minigun is the main weapon carried by Sergeant Blain Cooper (Jesse Ventura). This particular weapon was modified for handheld use with an M60 handguard assembly installed (backwards) beneath the barrels and a rear pistol grip which is taken from normal (at the time) Minigun spade grips. The grips are attached to the weapon by a custom Y-frame with an M16-style carry handle that mounts to the weapon's recoil absorbers. The weapon was powered by an electric cable hidden off camera and fired blank rounds to ease the recoil force; in addition, the rate of fire is substantially decreased from the normal 6,000 RPM to 1,250 RPM. There are several reasons for this; to ease recoil, save on ammunition, and because director John McTiernan wanted the barrels to be visibly turning rather than a blur. It is believed in real life a similar weapon was tested by US special forces in the 1970s but found to be impractical.

>The Agents, including Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving), famously carry IMI Desert Eagle Mark XIX pistols, chambered in .50 Action Express, as their sidearms throughout the movie. The Desert Eagle was specifically chosen by the Wachowski brothers as the Agents' sidearm-of-choice, against the advice of armorer John Bowring, who dismissed them as "wanker" pistols.

About the only thing about this gun that I don't wholeheartedly like is the fact that the ammo counter is on the side, rather than up top. Such an inefficient design.
