I thought Kubrick valued realism?

They tell you right in the script. Bravo Vince.
>>
>>71771211

It never even occurred to me that the Overlook could warrant a five star rating.
>>
>>71771211
Oh, you think that just because they charge you a lot they buy shit fresh?

Nah, son. You're just paying for the service. The shit you get is the same you buy from Walmart.

Did you know Slim Pickens was originally offered the role, but declined unless Kubrick was contracted to not go over 50 takes a scene like in Strangelove?

Not everything that's stocked is for the hotel patrons. The staff have to eat too

A lot of nice kitchens still use institutional-style food and non-perishable items.

Literally EVERY kitchen is going to have a dry pantry with flour, spices, etc. I'm not enough of an autist to read all the labels of the items, so something like this very much falls under "suspension of disbelief". Seriously, the fact that even high budget films still slip in Wilhelm screams and other goofs into their movies shows that it's still just an imitation of reality, and all the people producing film knows that. You really are missing the magic of the artform, or you're outright autistic, if you think that every single detail needs to be perfect, or a minor continuity error can ruin a film. Nobody is perfect, get over it.

Plus, the hotel would have stockpiled a large amount of low-cost food for unexpected blizzards, and also to feed the Torrances while they stayed the winter. You'd be surprised at how much 3 months of food for a family of 3 would look like all stocked together.

>you're outright autistic
The Shining fans are the most autistic in cinema. There's a list of errors in the film a mile long but they insist Kubrick was a complete perfectionist and that the errors are intentional and full of meaning, instead of being evidence that he wasn't that much of a perfectionist
>>
>>71771671
The shit Ramsay puts up with.
>>
>>71771902
Confirmed for not knowing what you're talking about.

There's Kubick getting lazy, and then there's Kubrick becoming so lazy that the entire floor plan of the hotel doesn't make sense.

He clearly made at least the vast majority of the errors intentionally.

Gee, I wonder why? Maybe because it's designed to disorientate you because it's a horror movie or something?

They didn't stumble into the hotel during a zombie apocalypse, and it wasn't a bomb shelter.

Working kitchens go through food quickly, so the completely stocked pantry was obviously for the family.
>>
>>71771211
It's all there for the family to eat cause they will be there all winter and they might get stuck for some time
The hotel was closed

This asshole annoys me. He's clearly playing up his reaction. It looks so forced. Physically cringing and breathing heavily because of some mediocre headphones? Fucking calm down dude.

What were you doing when you realised Kubrick worked with both Nabokov and Stephen King.

The Overlook isn't a 5-star hotel anymore. Due to it's sordid past and constantly changing hands it's actually pretty mediocre.
