It matches the internal tongue which is the first part we see of the Graboid we see and also what the characters assume to be the whole creature initially.
Interestingly though it's shown to be bigger on the poster, a subtle nod to the Graboids being bigger than we are first told without revealing what they actually look like.
It's a pretty clever poster.
All the Tremors films are great except the third one.

Everyone getting excited over Kevin Bacon returning for the new series, why? Val was only in the first movie and mentioned briefly in 2, Gummer is the star, if Michael Gross doesn't return then it's not proper Tremors.
One of the best shitty movies of all time, love it. Starship Troopers is still my favourite shitty movie.
