great film, uncomfy as fuck.
Dennis Villeneuve is seriously one of the very few filmmakers I would qualify as Kubrick-like.
Takes deep deranging societal subjects.
Gets all the technical, psycho-sociological and logical facts straight
amazingly well controled, tight cinematography
Kubrick seemed to love adapting from literary sources whereas DV gets his inspiration from comtemporary events/situations
there's this sense of unease when the plot starts to thicken
top tier acting very time
Every time josh brolin makes this arrogant half secretive smile, or every time one of the main character of prisoners loses it due to anger management issues
unease-kino
this shit started the genre
kill yourself, my man
>>71767195

Bug
>>71766739
>The Talented Mr. Ripley
>Sicario
>Gladiator (??)
Literally so comfy
>>71765982
The entire filmography of Todd Solondz. His films are remarkable purely for the talent they contain.
I don't think Kubrick is very comfy either, except for 2001.

>the constant ranting voiceover

I Stand Alone is the antithesis of comfy.

Leaving Las Vegas is depressing as fuck but occasionally quite comfy.
Fincher's Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
I hadn't read the book and was not prepared for all the rape and incest
>>71765982
>>71765982
Son of Saul - intense all throughout the film.
>>71775942
>the grimy 1980s working-class France setting
:shivers.gif:
>>71769160
I mean, Selma wasn't really wrongfully accused, just in really impossible circumstance.
I came in here to post that, BTW. Great film.
>>71766739
>>71769040
Whiplash is excellent and should be extremely motivating but it's uncomfortable as fuck (which is the whole point, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to achieve greatness)
>>71765982
Fucking Buried

>>71766739
>Carrie
>uncomfy
I mean it's a miserable experience but one that I quite enjoy. It's like a good feels thread but with superpowers. And tits. Plus the cinematography is GOAT so that alone places it in my kino list.
>>71766997

>>71774438
I think I took a shower after watching this.
>>71779652
Friend drove me back to my dorm late at night after this. There was a section we had to drive through the woods and I think we set the speed record on that road.
I just saw Dead End with Ray Wise a couple nights ago and that was some good anxiety viewing.
A Nightmare on Elm Street pretty much owns discomfort (at least for someone who wasn't alive then; negating nostalgia) if you're into that.
The Descent got me cringing in the good way quite a few times, but only watch it if you're braced for the film taking a 180 turn halfway through.
