What's it like going to the movie theaters alone?
pretty nice, if a little awkward. Don't have to worry about pleasing anyone or engaging in needless chitchat. If you don't care what others with think of you it can be a great experience

I love going to the movies alone. I try to see as many matinees on the weekdays as I can, because there are usually very few people in them. No friends to talk to you. It's excellent.

Being in the movies alone isn't bad. I've done it many times, the real problem is leaving or walking around the plaza looking for food and eating alone.
I never liked it; even if the theater is full I feel empty inside.

It's great. No pressure to talk or be funny, you get tot sit almost wherever you want. you get to see exactly what you want to see instead of whatever the groups general consensus is. 8/10 would be improved by lower prices.

Great. You can focus on the movie instead of having someone next to you that may be inclined to distract you.
Going to the movies alone is one of the most pleasant experiences I could ever recommend to someone.
However, I wouldn't recommend going to see a blockbuster or something like that opening weekend or a day when the theater's probably going to be packed. An early showing in the middle of the week when there's barely anybody there is the best, especially because the people you're sitting with are probably by themselves too and don't want to be bothered any more than they have to. The only groups of people I've ever seen at the movies that early during a weekday have been old people, and needless to say most of them don't really give a shit about you (which isn't to say they're not nice in general, or at least just not rude).

Why is /tv/ filled with so many underage plebs? The only movies where going alone is socially looked down upon are skanky blockbusters, if you just choose something with slightly more content than that you'll see a shitload of people going alone. I watched a Tarkovsky marathon on a local classics cinema a few months ago, and holy fuck, it actually made me feel a little guilty for bringing a friend along, almost everyone else in the room was alone.
Watching motion pictures should be about enjoying the art, not going to a fucking social club.
