Guys.
Series 5 have always been my favourite.
It brought a fresh air, good scripts, good characters, great Doctor, who was 100% Doctorish.
Show was dead from the second part of series 6 from my perspective, right when Moffat somehow killed the spirit of this show. Even Matt somehow started to feel awkward.
Anyone agree?
Just to clear things up, I was in love with the show since "Rose".
Tom Mison is being seriously considered for the next Doctor.

It's such a joke when people like this talk about 'the spirit of Doctor Who'. All they have is a vague and nostalgic ideal, maybe a few fucking youtube clips, it's absolutely nothing but a shamble of their own fickle feelings. (Self-perpetuating ones, too, because they are the sort of people who are in such a sulk at a television show that they go into every new episode already upset.)
Nothing they could meaningfully describe as a positive tradition spanning all of Doctor Who up until [arbitrary cut-off point, in this case Let's Kill Hitler]. Nothing based on actually thinking about what works and what doesn't. Just arbitrary standards of "this is right" and "this makes me feel saddy no-nos". Certainly not a glimmer of introspection (even though it's impossible to have a non-personal relationship with Doctor Who, many fans are content to interpret their own as universal), just the ardent search for validation from the similarly inclined!
It's not a nice idea, to think that one just doesn't like Doctor Who any more. It can be a comforting retreat to project blame onto the television show itself (or other vague forces of culture, such as "America", or one anon here likes to trot out "YA fiction" as if he's ever touched it in his life). But all of this is just bullshit. When someone actually kills 'the spirit of Doctor Who', it will be very obvious. You will not have to protest it on the internet or go round asking your IRL mates.

I'd never be happy with generic stories, to be honest. Maybe if they were written with absolutely godlike dialogue, plot structure, setting and characters, but even then something would be missing.
The series has been around for more than 50 years and part of its magic is that it can keep creating new and unfamiliar things. If it ever gave up on that in favour of refined retreads, I'd probably start to lose interest.
