The problem with David Irving is that he has became so fixated with the mind of Hitler. Thats how he began writing about Hitler: he wanted to get into his mind and know what Hitler was thinking during the war.
Irving has tried to make things up about how when Hitler found out that some Jews were being killed: that he became enraged. There is no proof of this and I believe it is just Irving trying to rationalize his actions.
No doubt Irving admires Hitler but not in a way of appreciating evil that Hitler did. Hence he is a holocaust denier.
