Why isn't Solaris on this list...oh right...you've only seen movies in the last 5 years cause you're 13. Right.
>>
You can't compare them. It's not because it's in space that it's the same kind of movies.

Interstellar is a bit like 2001 but worse. And since 2001 was (and still is btw) absolute trash, that speak volumes about interstellar.

The Martian is a 9fag meme and Gravity is Speed in space.

This.

Gravity was pretentious garbage.

The Martian was a solid Disney-like plot driven story added with reddit humor elements to make it accessible to everyone, literally made by a comittee, a problem with most movies today. Enjoyable but forgettable.

Interstellar was the best, despite some flaws. It actually tried to push the boundaries and DO SOMETHING, there was a sense of wonder and the visuals were done well, the characters you cared for somewhat. It had it's flaws with clunky dialogue and a third act on autopilot but it actually tried to be original and different.

>>
>>71669662
It was Nolanshit, which puts it in the same tier as Inception to me(I enjoyed both). The deeper meanings and philosophical ideas are wonderful, but the dialogue is cringey and it's needlessly "complicated". And before you say only retards don't get it or something, it isn't really that complex, but for some reason Nolan's pretentiousness(or more likely, his actual autism( comes into play and he ruins his own movies for the general public by doing this. I love the ideas, meaning, metaphor, symbolism etc in those movies, but a movie is supposed to be entertaining and enjoyable while having those deeper layers. Inception and Interstellar have the deeper layers, but they fail at the most important part, the actual storytelling, the characters, dialogue, pacing, etc.
>>

>But we were travelling through space with Gravity. There was actual action

Should've made a movie about a space ship traveling in space then, not a movie about a space ship traveling with Sandra Bullock giving insufferable dialogue every minute with a George Clooney cameo.

>80 of the film's 91 minutes are CGI
>Overuse of CGI is OK when you're in space with an android for an actress

I'd watch 91 minutes of RDJ's face in the Iron Man suit because at least RDJ is charismatic and Paul Bettany's voice is sex. Casting Sandra Bullock in any period of time is a mistake, it ruined whatever Gravity had going for it.

May as well go watch Miss Congeniality. I hope ALFONSO casts Tom Green in his next cinematography jerk off.

You guys realize the Administrator of NASA isn't necessarily an Aerospace Engineer, right? Usually they are engineers in some field, sometimes they're not engineers at all.

Theodore Sanders is never described as an engineer, more of a CEO. You'd think the caricature would've given that away, but I guess not.

If the movie (or book, for that matter) expressed even the slightest hint at Sander's capabilities as a former or practicing engineer of literally any field, I'd get the point you're trying to make, but it doesn't, so it's moot.

Of all the films that ripped off 2001 on the white futuristic clean minimalistic look, Moon is by far the most interesting.

Interstellar was boring crap. It was pretentious, riding on 2001's fame, without being imaginative and lacking depth. Also science was wrong. Only good thing was music.

The Martian was at least fun to some extent. Matt Daemon was annoying twat, but did a much better job than McConaughey, who gave impression of drunken hobo.

Interstellar is typical up-its-own-ass Nolan crap, but its filmed well and has a great score and acting.

Martian is alright, but the amount of humor really killed the tone of what is supposed to be a harrowing survival story. It's just non-stop quips throughout the whole thing.

I get what you're saying but Interstellar is a fantastic hard science fiction film. It takes legitimate theories of physics and makes them a reality (with the exception of the ending). It's better than the other two because Gravity and The Martian weren't trying to do anything that isn't technically possible at this current moment, just unlikely. Interstellar does stuff that we won't even get close to in a hundred years.
>>
>>71679896
Mate I'm from /pol/ and I don't even get where you're going with that.

All she did was having an IQ above room temperature and glue the pieces together. Meanwhile his son becomes a plumber or whatever and that's it about it.

You do know they asked Zimmer to make a soundtrack about a father and his son right?

I never even mentioned interstellar you retarded cuck. I said that anybody who enjoyed The Martian is too reddit sensibility to belong here. You claimed it was fun which makes you incompatible with this board. If memes and cuckoldry are "fun" to you then hang yourself.

Refuse to watch Gravity. Martian is way better. At least it doesn't pretend to be something more, than it is.

This tbqh. Newton would fucking cry if he saw the representations of force in orbit around the Earth in Gravity.
>>
The ending of Interstellar made me so angry. I have nothing but contempt for that shit movie.

I dare ask, why?

Gravity could have benefited from being more "pretentious". It wasn't that it was pretending to be more than it was outside of some hamfisted symbolism maybe, the reason it was so disappointing was that the script was D-great disaster movie schlock. The whole thing felt like a waste of resources. It was technically incredible but that was all in service of making what boiled down to a rollercoaster ride or IMAX showreel.

>force pulling two astronauts apart in micro-gravity somehow
>all of the space stations are a 1 hour jet-pack trip away from each other
>space debris in an exactly 90 minute orbit which hits them every time at orbital velocity
>space debris not tracked by NASA in the first place
>doesn't just change inclination or altitude of orbit when they know debris is coming

The first two thirds of the movie was nice predictable epic sci fi

Then it goes from
>vague general relativity slingshot the black hole lmao
to
>4D aliens use love to transmit ghost pokes through time to an arbitrary bookcase
>>
>>71680098

it focused on a poorly interpreted character that indeed spent 90 minute heavy breathing, crying, yelling, making bad decision and talking non sense, her character made the film painfull to watch in my opinion, it could have been really great otherwise, she just ruined it, and the director for going with it

wouldnt it had been much better if the character had at least a litle bit of an idea of what to do and how to react ? instead of her yelling in her suit, pushing button and then magicaly land on earf

also moon is ok, sunshine is ok, interstellar is kind of shit, but it's ok i guess.

but all these movie are kind of bad or jsut above average at best.

you guys should check MISSION TO MARS, it's really good, at least for the scene when they have a O2 breach or when they try to reach a capsule by going extra vehicular, those scene are masterfully directed and really intense

Not for normies. They'd rather have a surrogate for the facebook demographic.

Its harsh for me to say this, but Martian was made scientifically the best. Yes, I know, its full of bullshit, but although Interstellar is audio-visually the most stunning, its science is far more bullshit unfortunatelly.

Gravity is beyond shit tier.
>>
>>71680822
i remember watching with a normie friend and he was even more pissed about bulock than me, but yeah other than that the movie look stuning

>>71680848
no maybe you are talking about red planet with val kilmer, shit movie but mars movie, sooooo, it have some cool scene, like when they are all suffocating, or when they are chased by the nasa probe ahah

check out mission to mars imdb, it have an enio moricon score, and it's made by brian de palma !

What's this year's Winter space film then?
>>
>>71681219
Only the very last sequence of Interstellar could be considered 'bullshit' and even then we don't actually know what the technology of 5th dimensional beings would be let-alone make a 'scientifically accurate' depiction of it.
