Cutting out humor altogether is a pretty hacky move. Characters are not 100% serious 100% of the time, it makes them feel one note and unrealistic. Humour doesn't have to be wacky and quippy, but it needs to exist, or else there's nothing to gauge the dark shit.
The Wire was much darker than BVS, yet it maintained a strong sense of humour throughout the series. If BVS had a tighter script and a stronger sense of character, it could have achieved the same thing.

I saw the cinema version and half of the extended one
the UE only built up Superman as a nice liberal boy manipulated by Zuckerberg Soros (he goes after the tv black lives matter lady who guilt trips him, is suspicious blacks are being terrorized by Bats, finds out it's Bruce at the party) and is constantly emasculated by his black boss. It's the only big difference in that it actually changes Superman's trajectory.
The pacing suggest more that Bruce is basically his own kid self lost in the woods and is on a moral downward spiral. But his story feels even more convoluted with the other plots' extra time. By the time Wonder Woman gives back the drive you're emotionally disconnected from each plot's motivation and characterization. The Knightmare becomes ludicrous extra slog instead of a cool little bit and extra paranoia.
By the time we "find out" (not really - it's hard to watch this for the "first time" again) that the whole Africa debacle was set up by Luthor for who knows what reason, this shit only got messier than the theatrical cut (so Lex wanted Clark to investigate his actress to get into Batman so he'd eventually be guilt tripped more until it the capitol building explosion?)

The scene in africa really illustrates how useless some of the extra material was. We don't need Jimmy Olsen sharing a coke (i think it was only because of the transition between popping open the kryptonite inside the rock and popping open the unhealthy thing from Olsen's home country - pottery) or seeing Lois being rough gal and the needless talk in the jeep.
You don't need two new drone characters and a soldier (you're watching them thinking "am i supposed to remember these faces?")

It significantly changed the implications of what Finch was saying about "shadow interventions" during her speech, which we can now plainly see wasn't referring to Superman's actions at all. She was about to bust Lex.

I cannot begin to comprehend this fanaticism for this particular movie. My best guess is that people really liked the Batman parts, and I did too, but they can't wrap their heads around liking something in a bad movie. They liked it, so it can't be bad. It has to be good. And so the /tv/ is fucking spammed, or was since the buzz about this garbage thankfully died down, with pages upon pages of fan essays detailing the religious symbolism and parallels in BvS and why all the sparse character work lends itself to entire universes of interpretation.
But the movie was bad. I have absolutely no interest in watching a director's cut because the movie will still have stiff acting, no chemistry between the leads, stupid people making stupid decisions, hamhanded movie universe building, and still feel like a bloated fucking mess. Stuffing more shit in to explain all the other crap doesn't make the movie better, it's not that people didn't understand it, only fucking retards don't "get" it, it's just a tedious slog of a movie.
I just don't think I'll ever understand the love the small minority have for this dumbass movie.

well I did enjoy the movie, I liked the whole "hero not so hero" concept of batman and superman. I liked the psycho Lex, I didn't get why there was wonderwoman (it felt like "amy adams is not enough pussy, let's throw in an amazon for some snu-snu") but it's still ok I guess.
I liked it. But I prefer the Bale Batman's movies.
Every superhero movie is about "stupid people making stupid decisions", and even if I enjoy also the marvel's movies, they are way more stupid and childish and pretty much the same story with different people.
