I have nothing but a complete lack of surprise that Space Cop was a pathetic, abysmal failure of a film, and I have nothing but scorn and contemptuous laughter for the morons who have been supporting Red Letter Media for years with patronage. Red Letter Media have based their entire schtick around "humorous irony" but this time, when they themselves were put to the test ("can YOU make a good film, with all your supposed knowledge about it?") their true colors shone through for all to see. I knew it would happen, of course. I knew it from the first time I decided to bite the proverbial bullet and attempt to view one of their videos on Youtube.

I don't like Eraserhead. On paper it's a film that's right up my street, but it's just too damn slow and uneventful.
I enjoy some of the scenes. But it also gives me an uneasy vibe unlike any other movie I've ever seen. It's intended to do that, but I don't enjoy that feeling, it felt like I was suffering some sort of near-death delirium.
Overall I find Eraserhead to be boring. Probably my least favorite of Lynch's works. Somewhat ironically, I even enjoy "Rabbits" a bit more even though it's even less eventful.
For surrealism I prefer Jacob's Ladder.

It's a genuinely likeable movie that conveys a lot of modern anxieties and incites real emotional engagement. I'd be really sad to see someone just dismiss this as "pretentious" because not every single thing is spelt out.

It was nice seeing Jay drive the discussion for a change, and he did it very well.
Beardfat was also pretty good, but I think most of that comes down to the film they reviewed and the re:view format. He's often insufferable and seems to visually get triggered by a lot of the things they watch and some of the comments by other cast members. Was really good in this episode though. AIDSmoby has improved a lot in the last few months, hopefully Josh is capable of following suit.
As for the film, I haven't seen it. The plot doesn't overly appeal to me, and even though I think I would probably enjoy it anyway, I think it might be a tad too unsettling for me.
Personally I'm not bothered by the lack of Mike in this one. I personally think Jay is the best 'reviewer' of the lot, and was perfectly suited to host this episode. I like Mike's humour more, but it was really nice to have a fairly serious episode analysing a film.
I've actually enjoyed this new show's format and content a lot more than I have the majority of their semi-recent Half in the Bag episodes. The humour has gotten too stale for me, and most of the film's they have reviewed simply haven't appealed to me. I suspect a large part of that though is that way too many recent films are just, for lack of a better word, meh. I genuinely feel like Hollywood is about to collapse because of how bloated the budgets are and how uninspiring and mass produced the majority of films are.

I haven't seen the second one (and don't intend to) so can't really comment too much about the specifics of the actual film. I get the feeling that he dislikes the first one more because of how long it's been out coupled with the ill-deserved (in his mind) praise that it has gotten over a long period of time. The second one just seems like a semi-generic summer blockbuster (and is being treated like it by reviewers and regular theatregoers), so he doesn't feel as professionally insulted (can't think of a better term) by it.

It's actually pretty smart. The video they post is a compressed version of their talk, with clips and gags edited in. The soundcloud file provides the unfiltered and unedited version of the discussion, with all the tangents and not so relevant, sometimes even entirely off topic, shit stuff left in. If you just want them to talk about the movie, period, you can watch the youtube video, but if you like to hear them shoot the shit and have a normal conversation where occasionally they say something that leads to them getting a bit off topic for awhile, it's interesting on its own right.

I'll be a dumbass, own it, and yes having ignorant friends is my problem. Still I have a point which is too many people accept their shitty opinions as if drones. It is too easy to criticise every movie when all they have are shitty skits that are too long while ass kissing the weak minded.
RLM, in true geek form hates anything that isn't "traditional" in other words it has to remain old, outdated in form. Their ideas of what people really want are ridiculously outdated fantasies no one would really want to watch.

I am bored, but the argument is not random. The argument is directly related to RLM, and the manner in which they form opinions for the movies they critique. Also, I've seen many of their videos, and noticed a clear pattern of disliking elements that are either updated, or haven't thought to understand. Their appeal to viewers, their fans by seeming as if "We're just one of you, look! we make raunchy jokes as if geeks sitting around playing D&D." and for some that's all that is needed.
In many reviews they simply are unable to understand the process of creating a narrative.
