I've downloaded other players, they didn't look any better than VLC so I uninstalled them and keep watching VLC.

I don't know much about shaders/codecs/etc like I have no idea about them.
But I do find CCCP + MPCHC all in one is the best overall media player to use as a general media player. I have yet to run into any formats it can't handle, and I don't get those artifacts like I do on VLC
So I always download CCCP on any new system of mine because it just werks

Some of the other players mentioned are pretty good. Don't think they all play .isos like VLC does though, if you're into that kind of thing.
