So who was in the wrong here?

Pulling in front first is for mongoloids who can't parallel, it also results in the car being way to far away from the curb.
George wins.

This. Pretty sure the way everyone is taught is to back in first.
George was absolutely right, that is the proper procedure for parallel parking.

George. You would know this if you ever drove a car kid
Larry confirmed George was right
A more important question, can a fruit store actually ban you for demanding compensation for spoiled fruit?
it's not even debatable. George was 100% in the right. I knew this even watching as a kid.

It is so rare but George was absolutely right, no-one tries to park forwards unless they know that the person up ahead is going to reverse, otherwise you'd just move up, indicating that you're going to park, go super-slow so the person behind you has time to stop and allow you the room, go forwards one-two car lengths and then reverse backwards into the spot.
Also you need at least a car and a half's length of space to get into a spot forwards and even then you'd end up too far from the gutter.
especially in nyc where parallel parking is a badge of honor and a point of pride nobody would ever consider going in head first, that would be for like small town midwest people
