>your family is over for 4th of July
>your mother mentions you're a film buff to the family and suggests that you put on a good movie
>you have one chance to convince everyone that you're not a pleb but also not a pretentious arthouse faggot
what movie do you pick?
Lord of the Rings or The Witch my good lad

Shadow of the Vampire
It's funny, a little spoopy, and suspenseful at the same time and also I'll take any excuse to watch Shadow of the Vampire.

Toy Story

Pleasantville is a very good choice, Truman Show as well. Any 1999 movie that got a good critical reception really, all the movies made that year teeter between normie and art house for some reason.

That's actually a really good pick. Was just telling some friends about this last week.
>not a pretentious arthouse faggot
>don't enjoy art because of someone's opinion

On top of all that it's a period piece, so there's less of a chance that some faggot in your family is gonna make a remark about it being dated.

Pleasantville definitely isn't perfect, I think the resolution is way to simplistic, but the setting and plot is so weird that I can't help but love it.
Truman Show is better, it has a lot more meat on the bones.

>your family is over for 4th of July
>4th of July
>implying theres any other answer to that than independence day
>>71569841
independence day is a flick, and what's more, one that everyone has already seen
