I never read the comic though so I don't know how different things are there. I don't much care about comics.
I don't like the weirdness, I don't like that vampire guy, I hate Tulip and I think Dominic Cooper is a miscast, he doesn't look like he belongs there.

From what I've understood from interviews and shit they wanted to take their time and establish Jesse before he left the town, since in the comic shit hits the fan very early. By doing that they also decided to bring stuff that happen later in the comic earlier in the series, like altering the Quincannon arc. Butchering up Tulip's story however is beyond me, and I am not talking about her skin color.
