Nobody in Metropolis acts like they know anything of the Batman and yet he's on the news and infamous in Gotham. This would work if this is an origin story, but this is late-batman. Batman who's already been through his sidekick and his nemesis and doesn't know what he's doing with his life. They tried to do both instead of one or the other.

There's a line where Wonder Woman asks why Batman is leading Doomsday further into the city and Batman replies that there's a weapon that can kill Doomsday near where he landed. It makes sense that Batman would try to lead Doomsday back to the abandoned area of Gotham where he fought Superman.
What DOESN'T make sense is why Batman made no effort to recover the spear while Superman and Wonder Woman were engaging Doomsday. The line about getting the weapon was cut in the theatrical version, so his entire motivation for going back to that abandoned island was cut. This whole sequence is a victim of really shitty editing.
