S2 attempted to push plot 1 aside to develop more b storylines. Many were boring as they tried to pander to the whining during season 1.
S3 tossed out the IQ of the show because it was "popular" and they could do whatever they wanted. The main plot is mostly gone and Ruby Rose shit all over it
S4 realized we really hated season 3 crap like Ruby Rose and the S2/3 storylines so it tried to refocus on other people. At this point it's really fucking clear they have zero plan, are grabbing at headlines as they happen to real time to insert into the show, and don't give a flying fuck about having backgrounds written for the characters.. even ones previously established.
btw, at season 3's end Chapman has one been in prison for *9* months. They're doing BLM, Kickstarter comments, and everything else despite the year is still 2012-ish and we've done what... two Xmas episodes by now?

I liked it at first when it was a drama comedy about a weak middle class woman trying to deal with being in prison.
Then it has slowly turned into more of a straight up comedy and all the plotlines and characters have become ridiculous.
The main character became tedious as hell and they tried to make her have some Walter White transformation into a badass, but it just doesn't work because she's a basic white bitch in a prison with huge black woman that are addicted to crack and have probably killed people. I don't think anyone cares about her or her girlfriend but it's still shoved in your face.
It's like it has stopped being a show about a women's prison and the characters seem more like women on a college campus. In one of the more recent episodes a black woman in prison starts talking about "black people can't be racist because racism is a system of power..." bitch you're prison. Are these writers so out of touch with reality that they think drug dealers from the ghetto are talking about this crap?

I watched S1 when it came out and was "OK" with it. S2 and S3 bored me within an episode, but I'd been drunk for like 18 months when I tried to watch them.
Recently I watched the entire series again in one long marathon and minus some dry spells around S3 I found it overall to be rather enjoyable, and S4 was easily the best so far, in my opinion.
