Season 2 is pure kinotv.
I liked Season 1, though the fedora-baby's-first-existentialism shit was cringeworthy, but, season 2 had me feeling since the beginning.
The only bad thing I can think about in this season was the fact that the mystery was obfuscated by the characters. There wasn't that 'big bad wolf' like in season 1.

Too many main characters.
In S1 it was a classic case of pairing up a "crazy" guy with a straight man. This is a tried and proven method of investing viewers in a work of fiction.
In S2 we got a homo cop whose suplot is literally irrelevant to the main plot and if you remove him from the whole thing you miss next to nothing.
Frank, I suspect, was elevated from a supporting character and given more time. His straight man act runs parallel to the main story but can also be trimmed down considerably without losing much.
Ray is solid throughout. Great starting point, great development, great finale.
Ani is not really convincing as played by McAdams. Her family subplot also kinda goes nowhere.
The worst thing about the season though is that literally EVERY character that shows up is "in on it". Every official is corrupt and a part of some sex lodge and a big conspiracy. Every side character turns out to be a part of it as well. In the end there is no real reveal but just "oh I guess everyone is involved" and that's that.
There are a couple of nice surreal moments like Ray's dream vision and him living in a cop house that's apparently erected on a police station parking lot. That bit was hilarious.
