>Budget 160m
>Minus 20% (Tax return)
>128m
>+100m in marketing
>228m
Gross so far
>Domestic 45m
>Foreign 368m
50% of 45m = 22.5m
30% of 368m = 110.4m
=========== 139m
DVD and Blu-Ray sales (3m unites) estimate = 50m*0.5=25m
Merchandise = 7m
(25+7+139)-228 = -57m
Thots on my estimates?
Why didnt they fly the gryphons to Northrend?

Legendary Pictures is owned by a Chinese compagny so they earned a lot more than your usual Blockbuster in China

>100m in marketing
Heck the angry birds movie had a $400 million marketing budget, warcraft had at least a $300 million marking budget

Get laid autismo.

No its been reported by several box office sites to be around $110 million
When are we expecting to get the Ultimate Cut? Movie was originally 40 minutes longer
You don't get taxes back unless you lose money after all of your expenses. And individual movies don't file. It would be included in the consolidated statements of the studio or producer.

>No its been reported by several box office sites to be around $110 million
Well then it doesn't surprise me that it flopped
I'd suspect the foreign percentage to be a bit bigger, at least for China.
Legendary is practically owned by Wanda, a Chinese company. And if I recall correctly, roughly 80 of the 100-something theaters showing it in China on opening week were owned by Wanda.

Oh wait you took 20% out, my bad. Point still stands though
>>71510116
I don't think we are getting an Ultimate Cut. Duncan Jones had said that some of the cgi of the cut scenes were not finished so they have to pour more money into that for them to be on par with the rest of the movie.

I don't think he's talking about the unfinished scenes. Apparently there was 40 minutes of completed footage.
>>71510145
Are we talking about the same thing? Movies get 20% of their budget back (25% in the UK) by the government.
Only requirement is they the studio spend the money inside their country.

>Heck the angry birds movie had a $400 million marketing budget
Are you retarded ? Of course it didn't have a $400 million marketing budget. First off, the real marketing budgets are NEVER revealed to the public, so anything 'official' you've read is pure nonsense.
Based on industry sources ~$100 million marketing budgets are extremely rare, typically they are around ~$60 for the so-called 'tenthpole films' .
Also, while the movie box office gross is the most important revenue, there is some money (as in several millions) made on product placement in films. DVD's and BluRay's are quickly losing steam but increased VOD/PPV is making up for some of that.
Overall I'd wager Warcraft will break even, which makes it a poor fit for a sequel.
