Still trying to pretend that DVD isn't more successful, huh blu ray shill?
>>

There actually seems to be a weird little laserdisc cult forming these days. I could see it being the vinyl of film.

Nigga I like my lossless audio and my high bitrates so I can enjoy my movies as they were meant to be seen, not on a monitor or TV but on a projector and screen. I thought a projector setup would be expensive as fuck but I got a nice BenQ + 120 inch screen and blackout curtains for a total of $700.

Literally who cares if you watch a shitty camrip you torrented or a 4k bluray, the movie is still the same.

Grow a pair and buy a blu-ray already faggot

Kek blu rays weren't around when most movies came out, so your statement is fraudulent and homosexual.
>>
>>71440217
From what I've read, film's approximate resolution is greater than 2k, and if given access to the original negatives, a remaster of an old film can look great and certainly better than DVD - just look at any Criterion release.
>>
>>71437448
I damn sure did, I've got my blu-rays of the running man and basket case coming in from amazon this friday.

You missed the part where I have to fork out for a player as well.
What's the point? there's barely a difference, CGI still looks like CGI, and the format will be completely dead within the next couple years.
>>
>>71440342
I was watching my predator 2 blu ray the other day and was actually really suprised at how crisp and HD they were able to make the film look.

I don't give a shit m8 so long as it's good enough, and that's why blu ray never took off.

While the Predator discs look really good, from what I've heard they butchered the original grainy look of the movie in trying to make it look HD. At least, that was the case with the original Predator, pic related.

I don't know what your personal financial situation is but upgrading isn't too much when you could get a nice Sony for 70$ and they go as low as 30$ for off brands

>there's barely a difference
a) Completely wrong from a technical standpoint
b) How the hell would you know
>>
>>71440609
Predator (Ultimate edition or whatever the fuck it was called, there's an original release that preserves the grain) is the biggest cherry-picking 'WAHHHH BLU-RAY SUCKS' example, and it's entirely due to studio dickery and digital noise reduction, not the format itself. DNR can happen on DVDs too, I remember Terminator 2 got fucked by it on both DVD and Blu-Ray, eventually they released a blu-ray without it.
>>
>>71440952
>upgrade
Why would I lock myself down in a dying format?

I am so glad I am no longer at a point in my life where buying a 40$ purchase to enhance a hobby I enjoy would be considered "locking myself down"

I buy blu ray when I can't find a high quality download or when it's a foreign film and i need good subtitles (not to mention it's hard to find proper downloads for those).

I make exceptions for movies i know i'll watch many times because i love them.

Seriously though, having a few blu ray is cool. i like my little collection.
>>
>>71442839
I love having a collection of the movies I really love. Feels nice to be able to watch them in flawless quality whenever I want.

>>
>>71441981
No I just enjoy film and blu ray offers the best picture quality and a host of commentary and making of features I personally find interesting and enjoyable so since I have the disposable income I see no issue with using to to peruse a hobby I enjoy.

Blu-Ray is a niche thing these days, no need to shill it. It has its audience.

>>
>>71443301
It's best function was flipping it over and having the discs also work in regular DVD players.

It could of been a worthy medium if the player wasn't regulated to being an add-on.

Blu-Ray was technically superior from the start however.
>>
>>71442839
This. I never blind buy, I only buy ones I know I'll watch lots.
>>
>>71443248
There are literally blu ray shills on /tv/, I shit you not.
They're still trying to expand because they're still putting their shitty ad on the beginnings of movies.
>YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHH I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG
Holy fuck, fuck off with that shit.

>>
>>71443491
But streaming already won and will continue to win, why bother shilling Blu-Ray?

If anything, torrent sites shill here.
>>
>>71443491
So is shill just /tv/ meme lingo for somebody who likes something? Or do people actually believe that massive multinational companies pay workers to post positive feedback of their products on a single board of a long irrelevant website that gets less than 400k visitors a month and is known for its contrarian attitude and refusal to enjoy anything anyone else likes?

What's wrong with buying a copy of a movie you know you love?

After pirating it first to see if you like it, of course.
