This show has their amount of fans and even more critics, but I finally got around to watching it and I just found myself bored with it.
There just doesn't seem to be any conflict.
Usually the 'make a big in Hollywood' stories have the characters struggling for recognition or as washed stars. But here they just seem to have everything go well for them with no major problems.
It's basically feels like a lifestyles of rich and famous, which I don't really have issue with struggled to consider interesting television.
Is this some sort of clever satire i'm missing or something?
For me it was about the Bro-life.
Every season has a tidy arc. Every episode has a contrived drama, but there's always a happy ending and bro-hugs.
Even the douche characters each get a few redeeming moments.
mostly for Ari, tho.

It was before the bromance trend became oversaturated and everyone and their mother was a celebrity. It felt like a peek into a life you will never have. It didn't age very well though

Eric was always a faggot tier character tho. And making them all be successful and get their dream jobs ruined the last few seasons
I thought it was just supposed to be a brutal satire on the industry.
Also
>sasha grey has to literally play herself
>she can't even do that right
top kek

No. It was made by Marky mark. It was never intended as any sort of satire
I don't know maybe it's my own fault of viewing it throught the 'HBO drama lens', and I was expecting some jet black comedy about the Hollywood industry
Maybe it's closer to the HBO equivalent of friends. It's just about a bunch of 'cool' people hang out with the old celebrity cameo.
I guess for some people that's reason enough to watch it but I just couldn't really care less myself.
it was okay
I mean it's better than a lot of shows but if you never watch it you're not really missing much

I think it was their male version of sex and the city

It's lifestyle porn.

>Maybe it's closer to the HBO equivalent of friends. It's just about a bunch of 'cool' people hang out with the old celebrity cameo.
That's exactly what it is. You just get to wish you had their life for an hour.
It's sex and the city for men. Not really any point to it, people just like them because they want their lifestyle.
I watched it for Ari. Only entertaining character.

You don't watch the show for Vincent Chase but for Drama, Turtle, and Ari. That is before the women writers screwed it up.
For me I liked seeing Vince be successful. Some of my friends I saw in Turtle, Ari and Drama. Idk good show.
I enjoyed the movie as well.
Sex in the City for guys. It's Maxim: the Show

what seasons is this?
the scenarioof the KINO is weak
vince wants to direct, he needs extra cash, the 20 yo beta son of the financier discovers that vince shags his oneitis, the son of the financier sulks, everybody talks at the end, vince has his cash and of course the movie is a hit... with drama earning an award....
there is also a cute liberal passage about the ginger where ''he must not behave like a chad in LA'' in taking two girls the same day, but it is okay that the girls want to be shagged casually.
of course, the ginger goes back to the mother of his child at the end
the photography is like every episode so far. the movie concludes the series just as you expected [happy ending]

it could have been this, but Mark is not a good writer nor a good director, so it was doomed to be what it became.

It's not about resolving conflicts. It's about achieving the maximum level of comfort.
Yeah, the conflicts they had weren't really meant to be taken all that serious. Outside that time where Vince freaked out when they actually went back to NY most of the "drama" was sort of there just to set up the "payoff" where they got something even better. You sort of know early on that nothing actually bad will ever happen to them and it will all work out. You are supposed to just enjoy the ride seeing all the types of experiences fame brings to them.
It's similar to Silicon Valley in that way, but that series is a lot more technical and in place of hot girls, celeb cameos, and cool cars they have better jokes.
but this is true that you have an easy life once you are a famous actor.
Ari. Jeremy Piven stole every scene.
Same with The Goods.

Drama was a feel good story of the year every week, he was the heart and soul of the show.
