Has it been matched? I still think it's THE most consistently high quality show in history. There's NOT ONE weak episode in 6 seasons and it just obliterated the Emmys year after year
I can't help but rank (undeniably great) shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men below it - Sopranos changed the face of TV series forever and these newer shows are still riding the tide, so to say. Sometimes even directly lifting from TS, stylistically

Best writing of any TV show thus far
It was pretty boring, nothing much happened except every 2 episodes, side stories were lame. And then to watch all the way to the end and you have to imagine what happened, he got killed, by who? Did his family die? Pathetic mob porn.
Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and Big Bang Theory all trump it.

Sopranos is actually rather warm and "human" despite its subject and the graphic violence. You even feel a bit sorry for these objectively bad, morally stunted characters incredibly often
