literally made me shit my pants holy fuck that was brutal. one of the grossest movies I've ever seen

MOTY
>>
Torrent gonna come after July 6th right? I've heard that was when it was hitting DVDs.

Also don't wanna get too hyped up, American movies are rarely uncomfortable or disturbing to any degree, to they don't really have anything to compare things to.
>>
>>71402599
Torrent is already out. Also, I watch plenty of gore and extreme films and was still taken aback by the brutality of it.
>>
Yeah this movie lived up to the praise. I was shitting my pants watching it.
>>
>>71400544
I didn't find it too gory or gross, but the part where Anton gets his arm chopped up had me cringe.

Still a great movie.

>>71407565
I mean violence against animals, or any dead animals at all
>>
>>71407718
Why?
>>
>>71407648
It makes total sense. People making flicks like these are the exact people who will be making next years capeshit. Spend a few hotpockets to get someone to shill on an imageboard when the torrents hit and the literally who starts to become a brandname that a certain demographic trusts.

I'm sure they're shilling the itunes release or whatever on other websites but the shills are savvy enough to know that in a place like /tv/ it's better to just promote the torrent since no one here pays to download movies.
>>
>>71407639

Because my dumb lesbian feminist vegan PETA Greenpiece sister gets pissed off if we get together and some animal gets hurt in the film. But her girlfriend loves horror movies so it can get tricky.
>>71407824
Thanks
>>
>>71407918
Well one dog get grazed with a shotgun I think. But it's warranted. Anyway leave the thread before you ruin the movie for yourself
>>
>>71407852
It happens all the time. This director's last work for instance was confirmed to have been viralled here heavily. Nobody knew about Blue Ruin until it hit torrents but the day it became available to download the shilling hit hard. No one was going to pay to see blue ruin but now they're familiar with the director then they might support the next release, and even if they don't pay to see that either they'll probably pay to see Jeremy Saulnier's The Flash.

Why do you think small bands release their albums as a free download? Same thing. Promotion comes before profit.
>>
>>71408002
Yeah I haven't read any of the other posts in the thread, thanks, sounds safe enough, I'm out
>>
>>71407791
I understand. Are the Jews behind all this though? Also, would you happens to know where I could sign up for this job? I would actually welcome some free hot pockets to be quite honest with you.
>>
>>71408006
Except the movies theatrical release was months ago.
>but now they're familiar with the director then they might support the next release
If it's anything like green room I gladly will. I suppose I should thank the shills for showing me such a great film.
>they'll probably pay to see Jeremy Saulnier's The Flash.
If his next film is capeshit there's no chance I'm paying to see it. Were you joking with this?
>>
>>71408112
Blue, Green, Red
>>
It's always the same. A thread pops up with 10+ posters praising movie and the plebs swallow the bait....
>>
>>71408112
He will certainly transition into capeshit or some other franchise shitbuster. That's the career trajectory for all of these acclaimed "small film" makers. Green Room only exists to be the pre-round for whatever franchise shit the jews have in mind for this guy.
>>
>>71408175
If that's all you're going off then no, that's a dumb prediction. Capeshit would not really fit this directors propensity for excessive graphic violence
>>71408207
Hello again
>>
>>71408234
It wasn't the trajectory for PTA
>>
>>71408294
And that was 20 years ago. There weren't so many tentpoles that they had to artificially raise acclaimed directors who could work for cheap from the ground so they could fulfill all their quotas at that point.
>>
>>71408207
god forbid people discuss something other than capeshit
>>
>>71408234
Saulnier said he got offers after Blue Ruin but he felt he wasnt ready and wanted to make another smaller personal movie. his next movie is about some wolf hunter written by Macon Blair, not a blockbuster.
>>
>>71408466
I suppose we'll have to wait and see. I myself am looking forward to his next film, hoping it isn't capeshit
>>

I do not need too. Actually, every movie I didn't see is by default some sort of capeshit. I'm not seeing a lot of movie, a couple each year, so this means there's a lot of capeshit movie out there.

Lots of smart touches. The arm mutilation scene was inspired as a moment of violence. Anton's screams show you something is not right, and you witness the actual wound with the same level of shock he does. Good stuff. Probably the peak of the film, really. The other band members' death scenes fell sort of flat since green hair and the other guy died in such close succession, and Maeby's death was especially unremarkable with Anton just going "Sam! Sam!" while she died in exactly the same way as green hair guy. The exact moment the film jumped the shark was "Odin himself!". This is where a fairly gritty and unglamorous thriller took a turn into Hollywood territory. I did like the scene where they killed Patrick Stewart. "You were so scary at night" was a nice line.
>>
>>71408006
You're a fucking idiot. Blue Ruin went to festivals and had word of mouth. I randomly read a review for it and decided to rent it on VOD.

The reason why there's a thread about it now that the torrent is out is because you fat fucking mongoloids won't leave the sad cum smelling safety of your basement to go pay to see movies like this. You'll unwedge your lard from the cheap office chair your mom bought you to go spend your autism bucks on garbage superhero movies sweaty hand over sticky fist, but you won't give these smaller actually great movies a chance because MUH COMICTH BOOKTH. And so turds like you wait until there's a torrent and you lick the Doritos crumbs from your patchy Mexican-tier shitbeard and smack your fetid Coca Cola stained lips and beat your infinitesimal micropenis with your clammy flippers at the thought of stealing something that deserved your government allowance and then waddling home to shitpost about it on a Congolese website dedicate to helping the mentally challenged learn how to weave baskets.

That's why there's a thread about now that the torrent is out. Because convenience.

Nobody pays anyone to shill anything on 4chan. It's fucking 4chan.
>>

How many people on this board actually pay for capeshit and only torrent indie movies? I've watched the recent Marvel capeshit movies, all torrented, and I mostly skip through them. I would say that most do. At the heart of it, this is a board for the juvenile. The majority gets excited about Batman punching Superman or Captain America punching Ironman.

4chan has always been presented as this fringe thing, but that's not the case anymore, and places like /tv/ (especially tv) hold a wide population of "normie scum/plebs/casuals" because those mediums are so big now. Every big release is a fucking comic book movie and all of those movies make a lot of money.

Plus, unlike Green Room, they're more easily accessible.

Those threads about Capeshit Of the Month are always full even before a shitty camrip makes the rounds.
>>
>>71417052
yeah this is why I want a board split for /tv/ and /mv/, it'd dilute the population. Give niche stuff a chance. /tv/ at least used to ironically pretend to be patrician, now all pretense is lost.

Imogen Poots
>>
I admit I was on pain medication at the time, but this movie really didn't seem as brutal as people make it out to be.

Maybe I'll watch it again with a clear head buy I'm just not seeing itm

I mostly enjoyed the unflinching, ice cold violence of Green Room - but I am struck by what feels Jeremy Saulnier's lack of filmmaking joy coming through to the screen. Yes, I realize that what we're seeing is horrifying, but contrasted with this year's 10 Cloverfield Lane, Green Room plays things entirely straight, never reveling in its tension or gore despite providing a whole lot of both. I don't know if this is the film trying to have it both ways or not, because it has no interest in preaching to us the way that something like Funny Games did - but I guess I just thought I was going to have more fun?

The fact that you regard the fetishization of violence as something good in itself reveals you as a pleb of the exemplar kind.

In the real world things happen without stylization, so it is in any movie that doesn't rely on fetishization, or gimmicks.

The violence in the movie is incidental, not the focus.

5/10 if you say otherwise you're a FAGGOT. Totally mediocre despite being made well like a lot of shit these days. Some jarring editing fuck ups along with plenty of other obvious things drag it down. Take out Picard and let Chekov live no one would give a shit about this movie other than for a few neat gore shots. They should have amped it all waaayyy up especially with the whole punk/skinhead theme with metal playing and multiple Slayer references. Fuck somew weak ass war paint bullshit and fuck Chekov for being a little pussy the whole time. Don't excuse shitty characters who die for literally no reason to be a nod to classics. I was completely disappointed and occasionally bored.

tldr more overrated bullshit like It Follows

Take the skinhead leader/Picard out of the movie and let the faggot playing the kid who lives in the movie also live in real life instead of getting killed by his own car and no one would care about this mediocre movie.

Fuck you you paid marketing shill piece of shit. I've seen nearly every Western focused film of this theme or even related and this one is barely in the middle for quality. Only idiots who are used to watching super hero garbage or have only seen top ten youtube lists of movies are giving this any praise. It's flavor of the month shit that's purely average and only "praised" by those who don't have any sense of what exists beyond what is sold to them over the past decade.

Deliverance is the most obvious example of a proper group survival thriller.
>>
>>71424969
not even similar at all. this is a single location siege thriller. "group survival thriller" is so vague it could describe thousands of dissimilar movies. more apt comparisons would be Assault on Precinct 13 and Night of the Living Dead.
>>
I thought this was pretty good, the ending felt a little too abrupt though. I agree with the anon who said it should've been a little longer. The biggest standout was Anton Yelchin though, he was fantastic. Such a tragedy
>>
pretty great, the atmosphere surrounding it was so uncomfortable, so much shocked value. I loved it. But this movie didn't have enough suspense and thrill throughout the end. Everything just happened so fast, and became repetitive when they're being killed one by one. The cast was fantastic. Great thriller, but I was expecting more
>>
Just finished it. Liked it. A step up from Blue Ruin, which I also mostly liked, in terms of writing and technical filmmaking skill. Not a 10/10 by any means, but do not regret watching. Would maybe even watch again one day.

one thing i appreciated a lot about this, having been going to punk and hardcore shows in my local scene and nearby cities for the past decade or so, is that punk is depicted much more realistically then it usually is (like in Return of the Living Dead for example, though i still love that movie). The punks dress like they actually do, how the audience at the show behaved during the sets, the venue, etc. all very realistic. Crushed on a lot of girls that looked like Imogen Poots does in this (a lot of non neo-nazi's do the skinhead/skinbird look as well these days). It was almost comfy for me, despite the violence and tension, to be honest.

why did that babyfaced nazi decided to let them go? I didn't have subs and I couldn't hear what he was saying. something like he wants to go to jail and that he will call the cops? Why would he do any of it, and why did they trust him. Yeah it was apparent during the movie he isn't such a bad guy and has conscience, but still seemed dumb
>>
>>71428466

The Nice Guys is awesome.
>>
>>71428803
The bit that stood out the most was the kid's arm getting hacked up, and the singer getting his throat ripped out by the dog. Pretty much every death in the movie happened in a fast paced manner where the characters just had to move on and keep running. Their deaths happen suddenly, but not unexpectedly because the movie doesn't try to trick you into thinking these things WON'T happen, but instead just lets it happen and leaves the audience to deal with it. Theres no death speeches or final moments, just pure hopeless carnage before putting the audience back at square one. It made the deaths feel final and tragic, like actual deaths, not just plot points used to motivate the survivors.

I agree with this, some nice touches, but meh overall. Some surprising violence, nice setting and aesthetic, but no attachment to the characters and quick paced so the "thrill" itself falls flat.
