What is your favourite Star Trek TNG episode and why?

>Thine Own Self
>Wonderful episode about an android finding himself while teaching a village about the scientific method

my favorite episodes of Trek tend to be the Ferengi episodes of DS9. my all time favorite ep is also DS9 titled "In The Pale Moonlight", it deals with Captain Siskos moral ambiguity and features Garak.

My favorite episodes of TNG are "Timescape" where the Enterprise and a Romulan warbird frozen in time. And :Genesis" where the Enterprise crew members de-evolve into prehistoric creatures.

Okay, /trek/, you are appointed as an executive producer on Star Trek 2017.

How do (You) make it socially progressive but without alienating the coveted 4chan demographic?

Cause and Effect. Just really fun; I love the repetition but how every iteration is shot differently to keep things fresh, and I like the increasingly frequent deja vu the characters experience and how they solve the mystery. I also like how Beverly is in every scene as the POV character so it kind of makes it one of her episodes in a way.

I can't wait for DS9 II: Electric Boogaloo.

>Fanbase Press: Do you feel like there is a previous iteration of Star Trek that really has been guiding for you?

>Bryan Fuller: I'm a big fan of Deep Space Nine. I loved all of the Star Trek series but Deep Space Nine was the series that I watched that made me want to write Star Trek. I love that it was a serialized story, I love that it was so specifically rich in character in a way that the other shows-- not that they weren't-- but they just didn't go there and continue to go there the way that Deep Space Nine did. Yeah, and there was drama organic to the story of the show. You have people coming in trying to help a broken government repair itself. And everybody was damaged. And I loved the character of Sisko, I loved the relationship between Sisko and Jake. So Deep Space Nine was probably-- Next Generation was amazing, and Deep Space Nine was the one that made me want to write Star Trek. Next Generation made me want to watch it, Deep Space Nine made me want to write it.

Yea, maybe. I think it depends on how Michael Bay Star Trek it is. Hopefully they go back to Star Trek's roots a bit more.

if it's true then you are probably right, they really need standalone episodes to do that sort of concept. Don't get me wrong, I love action, I'm not some sort of fedora enlightened by my own intelligence that is above explosions, but those sorts of episode are Star trek, they need at least a couple cerebral episodes in the mix.

Also, the idea of bringing Shran on the ship would've taken away from the character's belovedness in my opinion.

Part of the fun was his reveal in episodes. Every time he showed up there was a freshness and excitement he brought because the character was both written excellently and acted by the legend himself, Jeff Combs

Every Klingon Episode is my favorite. Especially where Worf has to interact with other well-cultured alien individuals like Garak, Quark, Data, and Picard. Worf is a very good representative of his people just like those other characters are of theirs. Watching highly well-cultured people who are a credit to their own race was always fun.

My favorite episode is "The Survivors"

There's no real "message" or "moral" in the story, it's just pure sci-fi mysticism and mystery, and that's that.

If you don't remember, it's the episode where they come across a planet previously filled with colonists, but they have all been wiped out... there are only two survivors, and Picard slowly pieces together the truth behind their survival.
>>
>>71330367
Yeah, that's a great one. I distinctly remember the final scene where Kevin says something like "no.. no... you don't understand. When I say I killed all of them... I mean all of them. Everywhere."
The gravity of that just felt so awesome, in the truest sense of the word.

I'd argue there was something of a message towards the end, where the episode sort of challenges our views on morality and whether killing is always an evil thing. Picard says something about not knowing whether or not the man should be praised or condemned for his actions. It's certainly something worth thinking about, I thought.

The only thing that stands in the way of this being the greatest episode of TNG is the stupid plot contrivance that makes Riker argue against Data.

Also, Inner Light was also already said, here.

yeah because riker did a terrible job. he was on point. i thought it was admirable, I just didn't like his father issues stuff... which is maybe what you meant. it did make the argument seem bias though... it's true.

You might be right. Hard choice, but it's in the top ten at minimum.

There's that, but I also just don't like the fact that he was asked to argue against Picard and Data in the first place. It's stupid for several reasons.
