No real complaints actually. Good show OP.

Agreed. A montage is lazy. A montage could make an SJW sympathize with Hitler.
>>
Cars and brave should be lower.

Agree with WallE though.
Pixars greatest movie
>>
Ratatouille is their best film by far, Incredibles is the only that comes close.
>>
>>71311982
Toy Story 2 is the best Pixar Film
>>

Cars 2 should be lower
Brave should be at least higher than Cars 2
and Monsters University should be lower.

I'm happy with this discovery.
>>

Everyone likes it but hardcore /pol/tards.

The problem films are Incredibles and the latter day ones for /tv/. For patricians, the sticking points are Ratatouille and Toy Story 2. Not hard to see why if you consider for 5 seconds.

Such as? It was a combination of old-fashioned superhero stuff and modern family/realistic drama. Syndrome's motives were the only problem I can think of.
>>
>>71316118
you forgot to put Shrek 2 on there :^)
>>
>>71311982
Would raise Toy Story and Bugs life more, and Lower Cars 2 down below the picture. Past that, spot on.
>>
>>71316122
Man nah, I wanted to like it but it ended up just being the wacky adventures of two characters who got annoying as hell REALLY quickly. The other characters were totally unused. The BingBong thing was heavyhanded. Only real strong part of the movie was the theme of the girl developing emotionally
>>
>>71311982

>>
>>71311982
>Saying the Incredibles is just average.
Nigga you better pump up that rating or we are going to fight.
>>
>>71316177
>Syndrome's motives
There must have been a deleted scene or something, because once its explained, it all makes sense.

Syndrome, betrayed by his Super icons, wanted to create an enemy that could defeat his old heroes. Then, he wanted to give that power to others. Syndrome would sell super-power technology to normies. Making everyone a superhero and making him even richer.
"If everyone's super, then no one is".

The only thing that doesn't really make sense about all that is how he thought that world governments would be OK with him selling superpowers.
>>
>>71316177
Old fashioned super hero stuff was univerally socialist. Check out World's Greatest and Superman and Batman comics before 1945. The Incredibiles tries to import Ayn Rand's philosphy into that era because the architecture makes sense, and it just makes stylistic scizophrenia.

I can agree that Joy got kind of annoying, but to an extent that was the point, she was supposed to be annoying and bossy and then change. I thought Sadness was an okay character. They did kind of ignore the other characters, but I liked the use of BingBong.

What, are you saying they're too weak to kill a hooker on their own?
>>
>>71317826
Obviously Nemo then.

I'm not even sure if I want to download Dory, it seems like it has wayyyyyyy too many "one scene" characters.
>>
>>71317996
Its not so bad. Its just very samey and didnt do anything Nemo didnt do, and nothing better. It plays off the whole amnesia thing the entire movie. Every new character has to go through the introduction about short term memory loss. Wasnt a grand adventure like the first, more like a teleport to a singular area and then teleport back. I'd give it a 6/10.
>>
>>71317996
What do you mean? Most of the new characters are in it for most of the movie. In fact one of my favourite parts was the new characters.

I've still never seen Monsters U because Monsters Inc is one of my favorite films ever, and I truly don't understand why they decided to make a fucking PREQUEL to it.

Prequels add nothing to a story. Their existence is always meaningless.

It shows you why a nerd like Mike would end up with a Chad like Sully.

>>71319348
I guess for some reason I thought it would be another travel movie but about the new family of Dory. I could see a "dory meets people" movie being mildly entertaining if not repetitive.

Are Marlin and Nemo featured in it or just a beginning/end scene?
>>
I tried watching the Good Dinosaur yesterday. I could only handle a few minutes of it.

I really liked Finding Dory a lot. I finally got around to watching Inside Out and thought it was great too.

Wall-E is very forgettable beyond the amerifat jokes.

Up is good, Inside Out has its points, Monsters University is surprisingly decent for a prequel, and if you ignore the rest no big deal.

I feel Up is super UNDER-rated, personally.
It's probably the closest Pixar ever comes to true Kino.

Every other movie they make, while good to great, is still influenced or initiated on some level by marketing and comercialism. Everything up to and including Wall-E is hugely influenced by how many toys they can sell, and how broad they can paint the story to make it appeal to a larger audience. They still do a great job and they're still great movies, but you can smell the McDonalds on a couple of them more than others.
In Up, there's almost nothing like that. The dogs, maybe? And they feel out of place.
Like, look at the basic premise for each movie

>Toys are alive
>The ant and the grasshopper parable retold
>Why monsters are in your closet
>A superhero family discovers itself
>Talking cars
>A talking rat
>Robots!
>An old man whose lost touch with his emotions must learn to let go of his late wife

Like, it's clear, on a base level, that the STORY and the themes of Up drove the production, as opposed to the other way around. On a conceptual level, it's super daring for Pixar to greenlight a project like it, and I feel it doesn't get enough credit for that.
>>
>>71320701
Inside Out was Great tier. Not even memeing, also
>Wall-E not god tier
>>
>>71320754
I can't help but notice you couldn't come up with a single reason that Up is actually good, all you did was try to discredit all the actually good movies Pixar made by saying they are commercials for toys. A very hollow form of criticism that doesn't actually require you to do any real analysis. You just make vague accusations about artistic integrity in some kind of appeal to sentimentality.

Yet it remains that Up is a dull, uninspired movie and the only compelling piece of it is the main character's backstory summed up in a 7~ minute montage. Unless you want to talk about the deep themes of a dog shouting SQUIRREL or a fat little boy being endearingly obnoxious.

I'm not saying the other movies are bad, or even that they're toy adverts really (even though three of them are literally, unabashedly throwing a lampshade on the fact that they very clearly ARE toy adverts)
I'm just saying UP was a surprisingly grown-up movie from what is ostensibly a kids movie company, and it would be nice to get more like it.
Whether or not it succeeded as a movie is largely beside the point, but for what its worth, I disagree, I thought everything about it was great, and it managed to avoid a lot of the pitfalls other Pixar movies have fallen to. It doesn't drop dead in its tracks during the second act the same way A Bugs Life or Finding Nemo do, for example.
Also there's PLENTY to talk about conceptually and thematically about the kid and the talking dog
But that's, like, my opinion, man.

Finding Nemo is better than toy story or monsters Inc.
>>
>>71315909

t. HAL
wall-e is the most human motherfucker with a heart so big that he can fuck literal robots into women
>>
>>71317996
what do you mean by download? if you have a torrent could you pass it along
>>
>>71322781
What I meant is that Wall E is a beta cuck (I apologize) and that makes it hard for the majority to relate to him.

"Ugh, 'EEEVA EEVA' so annoying"
>>
>>71323054
true, but hes a disney cuck who pines after the women who initially spurns him. its heartwarming

eeva, eeva was definitely annoying but him and the cockroach was KINO
>>
>>71323175
Jesus, how could I forget about the cockroach.
Watching WallE tomorrow now.
>>
WALL-E is amazing but Ratatouille is still the top kino of 3d animation. Nothing has approached it since.
The perfect animated movie.
>>
Man the animation just keeps getting better and better. Just saw Finding Dori the other day and was in awe the entire time at the animation and quality of such. I don't even think I remember the story. Are they using supercomputers or some shit?

are you serious?
>>
What's with all these Ratatouillefags?

I mean I'm not contrarian enough to say that it's not good or even great but I dont consider it Wall-e or Incredibles tier. Maybe Equal with Toy Story 2/3.

when I went to go see it with my parents when it came out they were shitting on it because it felt like climate change propaganda

still never felt the vibe, since it was pretty obvious it was about reckless consumption

When anything goes over 8/10 it's opinion.

My top 3 are WallE, Ratatouille, and Bug's Life just because of the subject matter.
>>
I enjoyed Wall-E until the second half. The humans just looked out of place altogether, I'm fine with how the plot went, but something about their design pissed me off, they looked rather DreamWorks-ish and didn't click with the rest of the style.

I'd say for my top 3: Incredibles > Finding Nemo > Toy Story 3
>>
>/v/eddit is too pleb for Ratatouille
Christ, no wonder this board is in such a state.

I don't know what you're talking about m8, Ratatouille has always been rated highly in Pixar threads.
>>
>>71324710
did you even browse the thread
>>
>>71311982
Inside out ain't too bad
>>
>>71311982
>Cars 2 on the same level as anything else
Otherwise I agree
>>
>>71312430
Cars was easily the weakest of Pixar's early movies, eclipsed only by Cars 2 which was utterly horrible.
>>
idk why people shit on Toy Story 3 so much, its definitely one of pixar's best desu
>>
>>71325878
It less effectively retread the themes of 2 and didn't effectively present its new themes. It mostly banked on the collective good will toward the franchise.
>>
>>71311982

Up is a piece of shit. I loathe that crap movie.

all these butthuret fedoras in this thread who gets triggered when the females does any thing more than being a sidekick to the main characters
>>
Inside Out is actually top tier, along with incredibles and ratatouille
>>
>>71321210
I really like it desu
>>
>>71311982
>everyone jerking off over The Incredibles

i will never understand this. imo one of their weakest efforts.
>>
>>71327995
Why?
>>
>>71319676
>wasted the premise and opportunity
I thought they've done a great job introducing the world inside the head and explaining how each of them play a part with it. I don't see how they wasted their opprtunity on storyline, growing up is the most important and relatable themes. Seeing the thought process behind it to me was entertaining, even though it was fictional.
>>
>>71327995
Imo you should kys
>>
>>71316105
wow. i actually agree with this.

I should kill you where you stand.
>>
>>71311982
Honestly i would say bump up brave by a tier. It wasn't a great movie, certainly not what we have come to expect from pixar but it also wasn't a bad movie like cars, or monster U
>>
I unironically think that Wall-E is the greatest animated film of all time. It's not the Pixar movie that I enjoy watching the most though.

That would be [spolier]Up.[/spoiler]
>>
>>71311982
monsters inc, toy story, ratatouille and wall-e are some of the greatest movies ever made
>>
>>71312113
First Cars is comfy.
Second Cars is pure shit though
>>
>all these fucking plebs sleeping on Bug's Life

It's quite literally top 3 pixarkino.
>>
>>71312975
How can Wall-E be a masterpiece if the second half sucked?
