I started watching the English version of this show with my brother and really enjoyed it. The focus was on improving the restaurant's deficits, and not necessarily the people.
The American show was much more about drama. It seemed like every episode, the chef/ owner would take offense to everything, and they would spend half the episode arguing and doing dumb bullshit.

If you actually want to have your own restaurant you are going to have to come up with an entire menu of tasty things that are all your own OC. Think about how much food knowledge that takes, making someone else's recipe can get most people by just fine though. That isn't really that difficult, it just takes practice.
