It gets called a ripoff of Boardwalk Empire on here. I'd never watched BE before so it never bothered me. The choice of music also gets criticised a lot, it doesn't fit the period of the show.
It's worth a watch. It's got a great cast, the guy that plays the main's brother is very good and Hardy steals every scene he's in when he comes in. Try the first season and see how you go. It is only six episodes.

I've seen BE and I think it's the poor man's Peaky Blinders. I also love the music choices in PB and I find the complaint absurd. They're about as unfitting to the period, as the period being filmed with a goddamn camera. In other words, nonsensical, in my opinion.
