Heavily influenced by Stand Alone Complex but is generally gonna follow similar story beats to the first movie and follow some of the themes surrounding Motoko's character.
They're gonna go for the route of Edge of Tomorrow and have the characters based on those from GiTS, not directly adapting them. So instead of Motoko its just The Major. The same with Batou but he wouldn't reveal the name to me. The race issue will be addressed in the movie, Motoko's body is just a mechanical body and she doesn't remember what she originally looked like. Also relating to Motoko the themes of androgyny from the first film will be present, Motoko is going to be referred to as gender neutral, possibly implying that her original gender is ambiguous.
Tachikoma wont appear as we know them but are trying to be worked in for merchandise sake.
