Would someone mind explaining me what is so special about this guy and his directing? I understand that he is good, but what exactly makes him slightly better that literally any other director in history?

Practically invented the noir genre with Citizen Kane

He doesn't do anything?

Citizen Kane was a watershead moment for motion pictures. It's not that it pioneered many of the classic film techniques we all take for granted today, it's more that the film featured so many of those budding techniques, all encompassed up in a good story.

Basically you could divide movies into pre-citizen kane and post-citizen kane because Kane changed the way movies were made.

This is what every google result says. Can you get into some specifics and explain in more detail? Camera movements, changes in framing, composition, editing etc...

I just watched a lot of pre citizen kane movies and really I don't see any difference.

What kind of faggot must you be to put an empty pipe in your mouth?

Why not just look it up yourself? There's no shortage of places online to read about the filming techniques of it in much more detail then random people on 4chan could give you.

No clue, because i've never watched a movie before KC, i just trust what people have to say on the subject. It could be that it's overly credited with "creating modern movies" but i haven't looked into it.
