This reminds me a LOT of the reception for DmC: Devil May Cry. Another reboot no one asked for. The creators behind the game bashed the original hard, and it made a lot of changes. There, the media and devs called fans "entitled" and attacked them. DmC ended up being the poorest selling DMC game ever.
My prediction is that Ghostbusters will make 200-300 million and then never get sequels.

Yeah, this movie doesn't fall into the "so bad it's good" territory that other films can get into that people would see to maybe enjoy how terrible it goes and actually want to bring others to watch. Then it doesn't have anything good going for it to actually be fun to watch.
