The first season was advertised like that, and having been made by the bitch that made weeds I figured it would be since weeds even though it remained fairly light hearted did get pretty extreme at some points. The first season also made it seem like that would be how it was even if it was slow, and the second season started like it was about to get really good, and then they threw her back in the first prison and it devolved in to stupid cunts bullshitting for an hour at a time. I dropped it somewhere around the 7th or 8th episode of that season and then saw part of season 3, the part that I described in my long post above where the tranny got shoved in the bathroom but leading up to that they were making it out to be some badass moment where something big was about to happen, and that confirmed that I made a good call dropping it.
It should have been Maritza who grabbed the gun. Or at least build up to why Daya would take it. Bitch had zero screen time this year.

Litchfield is a minimum security women's prison. By definition things wouldn't get as rough as in Oz. When Piper briefly goes into a maximum security women's prison, it's implied that the people there are a lot more intense than Litchfield is and it looks more like a "prison" prison.
